Going Fully Sik!

Ok! my friends think I'm going crazy but I'm about to go stupid rebuilding my esky. I got a spare 20K to throw at it. The FJ's coming out and getting an overhaul. Looking for mid 400+ HP and to blue print the engine. Crank,Rods,Pistons,Valves,Cams,Headwork and Turbo then cooling oil/water. Hoping $20K will cover it.
Very much considering the Racelogic Traction Control also but hoping it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Just wondering if anyone on here has traction control fitted to their esky, would I be the first in Oz hope not the road may be paved with gremlins a plenty!

Will keep you posted!!!

Heard mixed reviews about this product. IMO if you are going to high end ECU get integreted traction/lauch control.

wat computer are you running at the moment? most later model Haltechs and motechs offer launch/traction control on their ECU's.

I'm running the EMS 4424 Stinger. Yeah I've heard others have traction control built in. I could upgrade my ECU however I'll still need wheel sensors and I like the many options this traction control offers, Some people who've installed this have pretty good things to say about it. It seems good for the price.

im fairly certain the haltech does not require wheel sensors. honestly, best bet is to speak to a nissan tuner about your options. my mate had a haltech with built in boost controller on a dial, he put it next to his gear shifter, and would go from low boost to full boost after launches. if your going all out, and changing cams and turbo, your going to need a new tune anyway. you could sell old ECU with current tune in it to offset some of the cost, and a lot of the newer model computers have options for plugging a laptop in real time and data logging. which is great for trouble shooting problems.

My sr20 im putting a PowerFC plug in computer, because i dont see the point stuffing around with nistunes and the like when a stand alone computer is not all that expensive. im not interested in the extra features that something like a haltech is offering. except maybe antilag. and that would be a bad idea for me to have, because it would get way over used.

Yeah may wait first to see how this engine bill hits me! Its looking like 12K just for the engine at this stage and I still got the gearbox and turbo to do!
Rods arrived the other day, Was considerng spool rods but then I just don't think I would feel comfortable with chinese rods in my engine so I went for argos which are some of the best Oz has to offer!

looks like things are coming along good,

looking foward to see what sort of power figures your engine will be putting out, mine still in a need of a re-build so ill be wayching this thread with a very keen eye.

I'm looking for drivability as well as power! I don't want it to be a dog off the line so compression is a tad on the high side from 7.5 to 8.8 and boost as high as 18PSI I don't think I can go much high with that compression. I am expecting 400BHP with should see 350hp or so at the wheels.

    parts added/upgraded are

    Cams (mild 262 duration)
    Adj Cam gears
New Tomei Valve Springs (best there is)
    Heads ported
    Block bored to 60thou
    copper head gasket
    New exhaust valves
    SPS pistons
    Argo rods
Custom Sump enlarge and baffles inplace

    Gearbox strengthened

    T03 turbo reworked (basically a T04 now)
