1973 Mk1 Escort 2 door
hello, this is my latest project: 1973 Mk1 Escort 2dr. basically has bugger all rust in the body. none in the floors, a little in the boot under the fuel tank, a little in the fire wall on that hearter thingo or whatever it is, and some surface rust on the inside edge of the drivers "A" pillar. that's about it! the body is also quite straight cheers

HAHA yeah the tyres are wide!! 235's on the back and 215's up front!! they wont be staying though, tyres are shot anyways and i dont really like the look of the rims! the spider webs have gone from the grille/headlight area now, the car was kept in a barn for the past 1.5 - 2 years so there was more than spider webs... rat/mice poo, match sticks?? ( looked like a packet was spilt ) and about $3 in coins! cheers chris

Great to see a bit of enthusiasm - you kind of forget what it was like when you're used to owning one.
What suburb do you live in?

plans at this stage are: panel & paint ( which we've started ) new interior ( needs everything inside... roof lining, carpet, door trims, seat trim... but, not sure if we are going to use the original front seats yet or go for something different ) new/rebuilt brakes lowered 1600 conversion ( will stick with the 1300 until we find and rebuild a 1600 ) maybe update g/box & diff ... still trying to decide on a colour...! bloody hard to make up our mind!! haha :) basically a full rebuild.

Hi Chris, Just wondering what your doing with the wheels, well mainly the rubber. No rush but if you are offloading let me know, I'm in Perth too. Cheers, Richo.

Hi again Chris, I'm not fussed if the rubber is old and bald, actually just perfect. I won't have the 'brake cookers' though. I had a set on my first esky and they were the first thing i got rid of. I'm only just around the corner from you, In Gozzy, so whenever your turfin the tyres just drop me an e-mail. Looks like your getting stuck into it straight away though, i might have to do some more on mine. Seeing yours, and others on this site, is starting to get the motivation back though. Cheers Richo

Yeah mate for sure. Havin another Escort bloke check em out may just inspire me to do some more work on em. The only thing is i see it as a bit selfish pouring money into my 2door(2 seat) Esky when i have a wife and three kids. They'll grow up soon enough (out of home by 15 haha). As i said i'm only round the corner in Gozzy but I'm at sea for another month (5 weeks at work 5 weeks at home)so when i get home we'll organise something. I just realised your Esky is nearly the same colour as my Corty, Copper Bronze, Do it that colour again, it looks nice when done properly and heaps of chrome. If you do any more to it in the next few weeks post the photo's. Cheers, Richo
