binding springs

Put some new 2" lowered spring, in the front today now when you turn the steering. There is a horrible clunk, and the spring pulls the wheel back to center.Any ideas

    back off the retaining nut on top of the strut & that should free it up, I have to do the same & run a split pin thru the top of the strut
