Escort Rebuild (i spose that what to call it)

Just thought it was about time i should put my project up here for everyone to see, so far iv been building it for about 3 months. Now yes its taking me a long time but I only have 2 dais a week i can work on it a limited funds so we all know how that can be.

My original car was STEVIE STARS mk2 with his 2.2lt pinto! love this motor!!! shamefuly the kid i bought it off had put a XE ESP full spool diff in hence my plates "LOKDUP" (laugh if you must) which in turn put me into a wall 1 late night/early morning, upon contemplating strightening the front end i came accross a new mk2 shell with with 2 1600's i since sold to a formula ford bloke.
any way enough talking heres some pics and the plans that i have.
Start with steves car

The the crash

The new CAR

Some bucket seats for the new car (2 seat conversion)

Coil overs in the new car (group 4 spec tarmac rally editon)

New back brakes (ED xr8) before and after sand blasting

After sand blasting

Before sand blasting

Grill inspired by origial owner!!

So the plan so far is ED falcon rear end with LSD and 28 spline axles, running on G[rp 4 single leaf springs and GAZ 2 way shocks
Then i plan on putting a big brake kit on the fornt the the 1" master to allow this.
Complete 5 stud conversion plan to run territory 17in stockies
Picking up injection set up next week hopefuly thanks to JamesR converting to electronic dizzy using a xr3600 module and a bosch GT40RT (resin) coil
2 Seat conversion and fab up new rear fire wall as im 6'4" and no-one can sit behind me.
currently looking into turbo options trying to find suitable manifold.
MORE plans to come....

    Good luck with your build.

One question though, why the ED Falcon diff? Most if not all had ratio's that would be close to useless in an Escort like 2.92 and similar.

looks good mate. I have an ED diff with 4.11's but it is heaps easier to use EL brakes as the handbrake pulls inward towards the centre of the diff where as ED handbrakes pull forward at the caliper (still do-able just abit more stuffing around). Are you putting the Ebay big brake kit on the front or hoppers stoppers? You can use a 7/8 master cylinder with the Ebay kit and its fine doesn't require the 1inch.

Gdub the original housing is actcualy an XE housing with a ED limmo and axles, as for the brakes im going to use the ED option for now coz its not an important thing to change just becaue of the cable pull.

As for the brake kit im not too sure yet im trying to convince hopper stoppers to sell me calipers and mounts without pads and rotots (i work for repco cheaper for me to buy) so we will have to see how it goes.

STEVEIE i know im so sorry i crashed her she was a wonderfuol car to drive i can only imagine how much nicer she was when you built her.
I loved the grill too stood out from all other cars the way it was hence me recreating it.

Ill get some more pics up soon boys thanks for the input!!
