...N/A 163hp atw no problem on the standard box.

You can go much wider custom straight cut gears, cost is about $4400, good for 800hp. Mine have been excellent for a few years now

W58 is an alloy housing with a steel snadwich plate. Very strong...
Sure the 55 and 57 had alloy sandwich plates...
either above are stronger than the celica adn definatelty cheaper than the $4400 over kill.....

    Hi Chris,

You can get your Celica box rebuilt for around the $600-$700 mark...a second hand supra box is an unknown quantity which could also end up needing a rebuild, if you rebuild your Celica box, at least it will have a clean bill of health and is more than capable of supporting a NA Cossie

    Cheers,

    Phil.

...AS Phil knows this is what I did. Very happy with the rebuild result for N/A Cossie...

    1. This is a subjective question.
    2. How much money do you have?
    3. How much power do you expect?

For sure 163hp atw all day every day is easy. Others have made heaps more power, but it costs......

    4. What parts do you have already?

    5. I know it is boring to say but the reality is if you already own a few key items then there is not so much to spend...If not time to get serious.

    6. I have had most mods already done to each of my Escorts for 13 years so it seems all standard to have a pedal box and battery in the boot (some of the required mods needed)

    7. How serious are you to complete the task, no "gunners" are going to work here, only "doers"........

    Feel free to email me

I will offer any help I can, but in the end it is up to you[;^)][88][:u]

...My number one advise is go turbo, even the bog stock cossie with a few decent ancilliaries makes 360hp atw[%]

No - not noisy as modern grinding techniques reduce the "silly" noise leaving a full and ballsy sound...
