towing capacity??

I thinking of getting another mk1 escort for a day to day driver tho and was wondering what there towing capacity?would they be able to tow a dirtbike or two and trailer?

    i think my mk2's rated at 400 or 500 kg unbraked.

    If memory serves it is 550kg for unbraked, and in Victoria for a braked trailer it is up to the weight of the car or what the towbar is rated at...

    i used my Mk2 RS2000 for years towing a 7 x 4 trailer and 1 or 2 bikes without any problems.

    I towed our Haines 1800S with 225hp Merc with an RS2000, no worries, okay some, but if you are sensible and drive properly it does it no sweat...The clutch is a little unhappy when coming up the ramp...

    I also towed a hobie cat, tinnie and laser (boat) for years, now it does that easy as and more appropriate. Hayman Reese tow bar $40, new high tensile bolts[%]...laughing

    I read ages ago something like 700kg was the recommended limit, do not hold be to that[88]...This has the stupid moron factor as usual, so really add half for the actual safe capacity...I rated my tow bar on the fasteners used and the stress on the bars, in the end it is the cars clutch and brakes that cop the most bashing...
