yellow rs

this is my escort.. its a 1980 4 door rs2000.
it has a kent fr32 cam, extractors, straight through exhaust, ebc greenstuff brake pads and a delco fuel injection system..
the bodywork was done by the previous owner, who had it stripped back to bare metal, an then sprayed with 2 pac..
inside i have a kenwood head unit, 6 inch component speakers in the front and 6x9's in boxes on the parcel shelf.
apart from that its fairly standard..
the pic is fairly bad, i'll take a better one once we get some sun

    Looks nice! Very tidy.

The pic looks fine to me!? Then again, I am in Melbourne - is a little cloud cover considered to be "poor light" in WA?!

That is one neat looking RS

On a side note... how much iron do you guys have in the soil over there? Those houses in the background have got some serious amounts of iron leeching up the walls [:u]... or is there some other phenomenon over there which I don't know about?

    sean,

i can't believe you noticed that! we have quite a bit of water underground so we all use bores for our retic.. the suburb i'm in has a sort of basin made of iron rich rock underground where the water gathers.. the result is the underground water has tonnes of iron in it.. and so when we pump it up it stains everything the srinklers spray!
i don't think its so bad in other areas around perth.. its a bit of a pain really as it doesn't come off too easily..

Does this mean your cars stick to the road better due to some sort of magnetic effect [?]

Yeah the stains are from bore water. All over the west coast, from Albany all the way up through Mandurah to at least that place north of perth starting with K if i can recall. A bit of left over sulfuric acid does the trick! Not good for the lawn though! [8~2]
Anyway nice looking scort complete with original mags too! Say, how do you find the FR 32 cam, is it too lumpy for a daily drive, is it tracitable? Got any more piccies of the engine bay?

    Cheers all

yeah i went back to the original mags.. the previous owner had 13 inch dragway mags on with 205's on the front and 235's on the back.. i thought they looked stupid.. eventually i'd like 14 inch minilites or similar..
the cam is great.. it idles a little more lumpy than usual but i think that sounds cool.. i think its fine for a daily driver.. it still produces pleanty of torque in the lower revs..
yeah i'll get some engine bay pics asap..

heres a pic of the engine bay.. it looks really full with the fuel injection gear.. i might actually re route all the pipes to tidy it up..
the injection is a camira/sierra setup, and the iac thingy has been moved onto the side of the manifold as it hit the bonnet.. i may actually scrap the iac altogether..

nice looking car Andrew. Love the colour...but I am biased. whereabouts in Perth are you? I have a mate with a white RS and another with a Mk1 RS (original). Do you get into any of the sporting events?

there is an autokhana on sunday at the belmont racecourse carpark, near burswood. it will be the first time for me but it is supposed to be a lot of fun. i am also going to Collie in september for the VSCC racing on the track there. i am not in any clubs either...used to be in the tickford club but am thinking of the ACE Ford club. they do a lot of cruises etc and cater for all fords, not just the V8s.

the autokhana is on at belmont racecourse. if you go across the farmer freeway out of town towards burswood, go across the bridge and you approach the exit to get into the casino the back way. take that exit and it is on the left. i believe it is on at 9am, but as it is my first time, i will be heading down there about 8am to register. i believe that the car just has to be mechanically sound. some more info here...

hope to see you there. i am in a VERY yellow RS.
