2JZ NO ****!!!!!

Some of you might remember my car from years ago with an SR20DET. Well I finally grew up and got rid of the 4 bangers and got a real motor. Had it in a 180sx for a while and thought the motor was so good I had to put it in the esky. It was making 553rwhp stock motor un-opened on 20psi in the 180sx. So now with cams and an autronic running it, it should 600rwhp this time. Oh and I lightened up the car a bit at the same time

And here are the photos

Does not look like you left much Escort in your "Escort".............

Would you not have been better to start from scratch and use Fibreglass panels, to save even the "escort" weight..... Looks like a lot of fabrication and fun... but does it do corners - Escorts were always known for corners rather than the straights...

Totally impressed everytime i see what those engines stand up to with standard internals. Toyota over engineering at its best.

For those of you that might be new to the forum or dont remember Allan's engineering masterpiece, here is a link to how the car used to look....

    http://www.cardomain.com/ride/777515

    Stunning car.

Allan, did you ever run it down the quarter...? I remember there was talk of doing so?

What are the plans for it now, circut/drag?

Well the only "Escort" weight is the gutted doors, roof and the pillars. Bonnet, boot, guards, front bar are all fibreglass and the floor and fire walls are only going to be 1mm alloy I don't see it being an issue. Together this will weigh less than 800kg and will make 600rwhp. I don't see power-to-weight being an issue.

Oh and it was always built to go round corners even before this setup it was doing 1:05's round wakefield with a 4 banger and weighing over 1000kg with no suspension setup at that stage. So it sort of goes round corners a bit better than the average escort

Looks like your building this up to be a sports sedan?? What other class could you run this in? Would be a great little car for sports sedans, just if your running the 2jz it would need to be 1125kg. Looks absoloutly excelent though! Loved the first incarnation of this car, well all except the sr20 (not a fan), but this is just cool. Good luck with the rest of the build, looks like you know what your doing!!

That's so awesome. 600hp at the bags will be fairly safe too, 2JZ's are so over engineered it's not even funny.

Those "cylinder things" are external reservoirs for the shocks. Improves cooling and gives more consistent damping and longer damper life.

Thanks for sharing, this is a great build, not a restoration.
600 hp with a manual will be fun.
I hope it looks like a granny pack when it's completed. sun visor and all.
Is the engine dry sumped all ready to plumb up to the sexy storage tank at the passenger side floor?
Looks great so far 02PRUV. good luck with it.
