Hi mate, I have a question if it doesn't bother you. The modification in the oil sump was made by yourself ? My question is because I purchased a 2L pinto in UK to place it to an Escort MK2. My country is LHD, and I'll have to modify the sump. Your work looks very cool, so I'm trying to do something like you did. May I have your advise ?

Cheers,

Yep, I did it myself. You could probably copy what I have done, but reverse the way the wings are done for your LHD vehicle. The inside is also baffled.

Engine is all fitted up and dyno'd after a few teething problems, and has been running well. The distributer had to go back for a tweek as it had a little too much timing down low. The end result was better than expected though.

Made 111kw at the wheels straight up and too rich. After some changes in the main jet that went to 120kw at the wheels. It's no secret that I have an "anti sock" (otherwise known as horsepower stoppers!) air filter opinion, and removing the sock type filters and changing nothing else took it to 128kw at the wheels. We back to backed it twice to make sure we weren't seeing things! The car is now fitted with the K&N 4" type with the ram tubes fitted underneath.

Some pictures:

The owner may post a few more pics up, I don't have any more

Cheers

Fkn wow!!!

You know what I like, is that in your original post you said the aim is 115-120rwkw, and you made that with filters. Kudos.

Bearing in mind that that figure doesn't take any consideration any of the hang ons etc:  (eg: manifold, carbs, extractors, ignition system, exhaust, dyno tune etc etc)  By the time you factor in all that the figure would be closer to $9000-10000.

That's a great result Woz...
What numbers did the 'race' engine put out?

Hi Shaun,

I will finish the thread on the other engine at some stage.  We raced it at Tara High country, but had dramas of the last stage on the Saturday.  I have the engine out and at work at the moment.
I have dyno'd it, BUT I haven't had it on my normal dyno, it was done on a dynamics and made 134kw at the wheels, but for it to be a fair comparison with this engine I need to see it on my normal one.
I will finish the other thread when I get a chance,

Cheers

Hey Wozzah finally got mine finished ,still sorting out the dizzy stuff .Had on dyno last week made 145 hp at 6600 when the msd and coil died and was pretty rich at 12.1 through most of the range . Will be back on dyno soon with a few more dollars to be spent.
