TCA's, Steering Arms and Rod Ends
Where is the best place to buy the above items? Do Ford still stock them? Not sure if there are differences in quality between suppliers hence my question........

you're best off going direct to Gartrac as they can supply you genuine Ford TCA's and tie rod ends as well as reinforced steering arms Etc as the genuine Ford items are the only stuff worht buying as the TCA's and TRE's last and are worth the extra over the other crap out there

Why pay more from gartrac when there are plenty of other suppliers who do the same thing? burtons have brand new capri steering arms which would have to be as good as original Ford. Last I heard, Ford only made car panels and welded them together, they got other places to do the fabricated stuff. All you ever do is complain. is there anything you are happy about?[x2x][x2x]

While on topic, are the strengthened steering arms worth a look? It would appear that a standard one might break with just a little tap. Is it easy to perhaps weld the strengthening piece on at home?

Pattern steering arms seem to all be in the range of 25-30pound each. Genuine ones are about 100pound each. So you could use three copies for every genuine one. The question is do the real ones last three times as long under the race conditions you're going to subject them to? Also, what is the cost of having one fail? Does that mean rebuilding the car after it's hit something? Same question applies to the strengthened steering arm. What is the chance and cost of failure of a standard one? Does the cars intended use justify the uprated arms? Most importantly, how deep are your pockets?

Do they actually break unless you've hit something? Cant say its happened to me in 22 years of Escort motoring and track stuff.
I suppose if you are rallying, then thats a different story. You could be hitting serious potholes on every second corner.

Is it just me or are they going to take different sway bars to each other?

One has the bushing fitted, the other doesn't.
I'm eventually going to have my car set up for gravel rallying so i'm getting the strong bits straight off the bat. My original TCAs are still good so i don't need to change them yet plus i've got some good condition original spares.
I've got a set of forest spec cranked steering arms. Not cheap but much heftier than the standard ones.

Off topic, but I've noticed a few first time posters joining this forum lately just to have a shot at Danny. Makes me wonder if a current member is creating new usernames so as to have a go at Danny, as they seem to already have him figured out.[x2x] Hmmm... quote: Originally posted by phat escort

All I care about is that people have valid and knowledgable comments and experiences. I don't care who is on the naughty list and who is on the nice list.
You make a good point...

If the guys coming in at grass roots level to this hobby were to listen to the guys bagging entry level gear...we wouldn't have any new interest/blood to keep our hobby alive as the apparent acceptable gear is priced out of reach[x2x] Not everyone can afford the top level gear to start with...I know I was in the same boat hence why Im rebuilding my car now with the gear I would like to use rather than what i could afford the first time round. I sell the benefits of using genuine Subaru parts and service everyday and believe very strongly in what I sell but if I was to ignore/run down the aftermarket competition I would firstly be an idiot and secondly be stuggling in business if still in business at all...there is a place for cheaper gear and it isnt all as bad as claimed. To the guys that need to use cheaper parts...aftermarket steering and suspension parts have been used in Escorts/Cortinas and Capris in Australia for years...the only time I have seen a component worn too a life threatening state or in a life threatening state it has been as a result of the owners ignorance. Dont be put off by elitism...you can safely use these parts without fear if you check your vehicle properly at appropriate service intervals[;^)] If you need a hand sourcing safe aftermarket gear for our cars at the right price shoot me a pm, I will put you in contact with my suppliers

Last time I checked I was the most affordable source of these particular parts, which are advertised in this forum.
