Rally Design vs Gartrac Pedalbox
Looking for opinions and advise on the two. I've read lot's about the Rally Design version, which seems to be the popular one these days with numerous local/eBayAU sellers selling them, but not all good reading. Seems there are too many issues with the RD version. Havn't heard/read much good or bad on the Gartrac version. Would like to know from people who've had experience with the Gartrac (or both) pedalboxes, good or bad. Gartrac MK2 Escort. Rally Design MK2 Escort Is the Rally Design pedalboxes so popular because of price?? Availability?? Better?? Based on a MK2 hydraulic cluth version, $765 for Gartrac version including delivery from UK, and $600 plus delivery charges from a local supplier, there's not much difference really.

Gartrac made parts for the works rally teams in the 70s and 80s. That's good enough for me.
Do you need the hydraulic clutch version?

Yeah, that's a bonus, as well as the RalDes version pedals are slightly higher positioned and a ittle forward than the Gartrac. This is what I've heard anyway? True or false?

When i worked at Quickco we used to get the Gartrac items or Burtons in the early days(1990+) before making our own, RalDes's look kind of cheap, they prolly do the same job tho. Now I make up my own as i need them

martymexico, since you worked with the Gartrac and RelDes boxes, what complaints or faults did you hear of / know of? Do you make yours to Gartrac spec's with OE pedals ect?

I prefer the OEM look of the Gartrac unit.

I have the Rally Design unit and the accel pedal doesn't sit nicely like OEM. The old heel toe is alot harder. I think I'll end up removing my pedal and modifying it.

There's more than two companies making these things. Here are some links to a few, all of which are cheaper than the Gartrac one. Which one to pick eh. decisions, decisions.

We only got a few in of each to compare, bear in mind this is going back into the '90's when RalDes was using 'real' pedalboxes and were possibly from Gartrac or T.A.S.(Trans AutoSport), we never brought in the RalDes RHS bias'boxes as we thought they'd not sell, by then we were building our own on an Exchange basis . i make mine using Wilwood balance bars, mine use the original pedals modified for a std looking setup, most of my stuff is from USA rather than UK due to post and exchange rates

By the looks of the links there are only 2 manufacturers in the UK so best price on either type wins quote: Originally posted by danny m

I'm too busy looking at other forums and laughing at you wrecking 2 cars and then scrounging around pi ss ing everyone off by saying you'll buy cars then not. And trying to flog bodgy parts yourself. Least no ones ever offered to stick any of mine up my rectum. You hit walls, wildlife... what next? I'd walk to work mate its probably better for you and the rest of us.

Just a comment stay away from early Rally design ones....they have a design flaw in the brake peadl which allows you bend the pedal across not just up and down which eventually fatigues them.....
Later ones may have fixed this though.....the weakness is at the top of the brake pedal.
my 2 cents
