2jz is a bad choice, no point taking a car which handles exceptionally well and making it drive in a straight line.
the f20c from an s2000 is a good choice but the motors alone are about 5 grand.
toyota make a similar engine the 3SGE BEAMS (Dual VVTI 2 litre) which can be picked up for about 2 grand.
there's an ae86 sprinter in Lismore with a BEAMS mated to a w58 supra 5 speed and an F series Toyota diff(either tarago or hilux, i cant remember).
it makes about 130rwkw using an adaptronic ecu. i imagine with a set of quads that power would jump to about 150-160kw.
if i was going for an all out mega dollar build thats the engine i would go for.
