72 DELETE v6
Well finally things have started. Interior fully stripped . Engine out and stripped thanks to Dave. As I was sorting my various spares, I realised the car was fitted with D port heads from factory. Was that a regular event? Anyway the Body was metal finished approx 12 yrs ago so as far as body work goes this hopefully wont be major drama..Will post pics soon ..

Woo Hoo! Another project started. Well done Matt. Rebuilding a capri is a bit like having children. "Real fun to start with but you better have a steely determination to finish." Anyway well keep you going. Nice to hear you scored some dport heads and remember we need plenty of pics. Cheers mate.

The deport heads are the matching colour as the block. Have matching manifold to boot. Cross members out today, steering box out. Engine Bay is completely bare just ready to paint strip.
So yes things are on the way. Pics next week.

Ok here of some pics of b4 I started and where I am at today. these were taken the day I laid my eyes on the car. notice dport manifold in boot. Paint wasn't to bad on this side as wasn't in direct sunlight for 5 yrs.The car had been sitting in a carport for 5yrs. THe previous owner had a Hornet scoop fitted..Great just what I wanted NOT. Any after hunting around I came up with this 69 bonnet . I had plates weled in to cover tje wrong bonnet holes. After coming back from getting dipped. OK... These pics are we are currently at. Inprocess stripping the wiring out Thats such a fun job thats up there with degreasing engine blocks. So I should get back to shed to knock some dents out of the crossmember b4 I paint it. cheers Matt

Sounds like it will be a strong, free revving engine with all the roller gear.
I'm looking forward to seeing the car finished Matt, it will be good to see another delete options Capri.
Cheers

nice looking car ! have you taken into consideration that your bonnet will have the older side to side release latch rather than the later one which your car should have - the one that rock forwards backwards ? probably not too big a deal, just means you will have to weld the later latch onto you bonnet i guess. Nice looking motor

Good work Matt. Meanwhile Im still waiting for the council to give me a permit for the new shed. Red tape seems to be overwhelming in this shire. Just thirty years ago the guy behind the counter at the shire office (who was also the building inspector) would rubber stamp my one page plan on the spot and then tell me to nick off and get busy on it. Those were the days. Anyway I just bought a brand new set of original driving lights for a very reasonable price. Spending on trinkets for the car is amusing me at the moment.
