I used 4 washers (1 on each retainer bolt) to take up the space of the backing plate and ditched the plate.

The workshop has the drawings and will begin cutting soon.

I will contact the interested parties once I have them.

For clarification this is a model of the shim provided to replace the redundant drum brake backing plate as discussed earlier.

I did Hendo's trick 4x washers works fine, or you can save the drum backplate and cut the shape of the axle flange from it,but thats hard work !

Well, seeing I had the dimensions for the axle flange holes it was a no brainer to draw these up.

At least it finishes it of 100%.

OK, all parts now ready to go to the platers.

Raw parts

Mounted - view from rear (only initial fitting hence not all mouning bolts in place).

Wheel mounted

From the outside

Hoping to get to the platers this week.

I did this conversion about 5 years ago on my MK1.

Never even thought about the brake backing plate / spacer issue, I don't run one and have not had any problems so far.

Cheers

HI Paul

I'm very interested in the adaptors. Could you let me know what needs to be machined off what to make the conversion work?

Cheers
