Yamaha R1 1000 Carbs

Well the Yamaha R1 1000 Carbs are fitted to the my 1600 MK 1 and now tuned. The little buzz bomb hoots along now[:p]

Gotta say much better that the ole twin 40mm dellortos[:x)]
and
more economical too.
Stay in tune longer, lots longer

Fitment was a lot easier than I thought it would be[:u]

What manifold did you use? Or did you make one?
Look forward to seeing the setup at AFD.

    Yamaha R1 1000 carbs 99/98..........Ebay $100
    Manifold............................ya gotta know someone[:x)]
    Manifold connectors.................40mm rad hose $15 1/2 mtr
    Fuel pressure regulator.............Ebay $35
Accelerator cable...................Existing bike one fits straight onto the MK 1 pedal
Tuning and synchronising............$200 (Mike Dale Automotive)
Air Filters.........................Ebay $26 for 4 plus $6 I think in postage from Taiwan (Local motorbike shop has same ones for $21 each!!)

Goes like stink now I would say some 10-20 kw extra but I haven't had it dyno'd yet either
Smoother on acceleration, more responsive, definitely more economical and they look totally splendid!!! indeed

Coupla little tricks to know and they are available at www.boggbros.co.uk

Oh, and I note that the inlet manifold is cold to the touch when the engine is running [:x)]

R1's are 40mm straight thru not like Dellortos/Webers that are 40mm down to 35mm at the manifold[B)]

no probs, thats a bloody nice mk1 u got there.

i usually was never a fan of mk1 fronts with square lights, but urs changed that!

so youve connect the carbs to the head with rubber hoses? how is that? does it shake, vibrate and have a fit at idle speed?

something different on an old car is always cool

Hoses are slid over steel tube that is the same length.
i think that i will need to shorten them so that I get a little more clearance from the strut tower area
