as i said, i dont really like burnouts, they are about as pointless as drag racing. but your escort does sound tough.
i have a zetec atm and i've ruled that conversion out due to its difficulty.
i have a few requirements for my engine conversion...
DOHC L4 2 litre or less. Quad Carbies. No Computers. N/A 100rwkw 5 Speed.
And 3k to get it all working.
if that's possible with a ford engine please let me know. i understand you can buy 16 valve dohc heads for the pinto but i assume they would be quite a lot of money.
I would love to keep it all ford but it seems the 4age is the logical choice.
if only Australia didn't fail as a country and we actually decided to get cosworths locally delivered instead of sticking to bogan spec v8's there would be no deliberation, as the engine choice would be obvious.

I agree with the drag racing, but hey, it was a Dial your own time event with an online forum similar to this, I had people laughing all day as I was in full rally trim, inlcuding spare wheel, driving lights, even first aid kit (which came in handy for another competitor) and after nearly 25 years of racing had never tried it.
my thoughts - doesnt matter what type of racing you are doing as long as your there in the right spirit with like minded people having fun -sheep stations are overated - lol

Pinto power is going to be the cheapest option. And the most simple. You could always look into turboing your pinto if you want more power. Tho blowthrough isn't worth it so you would want to go EFI. And with any sizable ammount of boost internals are going to have to be changed along with gearbox and diff because of the amount of Torque you would but asking them to deal with. Hey that just became expensive too... =(
The teacher inside of me is wanting to tell you to do a pros/cons list and a cost analysis report with a power per dolor ratio figure for each option. Then you can make an informed decision about the approach you want to take. LOL!
(note this is just my opinion... I take no responsibilty for lost of money or life caused by my advice. For entertainment purposes only. Not for children under 3)

Haha yeah a turbo set up would certainly cost a few dollars. i've decided to go with the 4age but if a cheap pinto comes up i wont say no :)

got some parts for the ae86, escort is still pretty much untouched, although i removed the side strips and finally got all the glue off, looks a lot nicer now. will get pics up once i put some tyres on the globes and get them on, looks disgusting with stockies. AE86 PARTS TIME. PolyUrethane Steering Rack Bushes OEM Power Steering Arms for extra lock 24mm Selbys Sway Bar XT130 Corona Lower Control Arms. 10mm more track and about 1-2 degrees of negative camber. JDM STYLE P PLATE. Probably going to look like this soon,i think it makes the body kit look more factory.FROM THIS TO THIS

im not too sure at this stage. once it's lowered with better fitment i will see how i feel about the matter. black looks more stock imo. as for the escort, www.rallydesign.co.uk have good prices, wondering if any one has any experience with buying from rally design and if the shipping from UK would completely offset the cost saved on purchase prices?

I have purchased products from rally design and the cost of shipping was about the same as the cost of the parts =|

back in the day you could order twice as much and flog it off to offset the postage cost. But now everyone does it. You may get lucky if someone wants some stuff. quote: Originally posted by Axentrik
