Mk2 rallycar
G'day Guys, been watching the forum for a while so thought I'd finally get some photos of my current and previous mk2 Escorts up. as a test to see whether I can post photos - a couple of my previous escort rallycar which was actually my 2nd rallycar after the first virtually fell apart. this one only lasted a couple of events as I hit a stump fairly hard trying in vain to get on to a bridge which I half did but fell off in to a a shallow creek.

Right that worked. heres the current one when I was building it. Decided that if I was going to all the trouble of building a new one, I may as well do it the way I have always wanted to and put arches on it Finished product prior to any events did a couple of events in 2007 haven't competed since but started redoing the front suspension with comp. struts, drop links and adj. lower control arms. Hoep to finish that part of it soon and get out in a few events this year. Would also like to get a bit more width in the rear. I'm currently running a modified B1600 Mazda diff which is strong as nails but not wide enough for me to fill the arches when the gravel wheels are on.

Welcome to the forum Rian. Sucks about the first one but version 2 looks much better, great colour scheme. So I take it your running under historic regs? Cam

running under classic rally car regs.. Main reason I went from PRC to CRC is that it gives the freedom to run the car arched and also to change the suspension setup - 4 link, comp. struts etc. It limits induction to carbies but I don't mind that so much.

Pete,
I attached the fibreglass arches by bolting through the inner flange of the arch but also coating the interface with black sikaflex (or similar anyway). The sikaflex that oozed out when squeezed together with the bolts was best left to dry then cut off with a knife. Don't have any pics unfortunately but it came up alright.
worst mistake was trying to wipe the excess sikaflex off when wet as it smeared along the guard and was a bugger to get off.

scott, nah those wheels were no good - made me crash! [88]
front suspension is finished now so its almost ready to go. have to hack off the front arches and refit them as the wheels no longer sit in the centre. They also hit the front apron when turning due to the scrub radius so need to do some trimming.
don't know when next event will be - maybe nightmoves.
