My Mk2 RS rebuild

Hoping someone might be able to shed some light on my RS Mk2 that im rebuilding at the moment.Im trying to find out a little about that past history of the car.
Its a 4 door, originally Monza Red & was supposedly a workshop demo car for a place called S & M Motorsport.I was told that it ran a Turbo Pinto & at one point was running on LPG.
Does that ring a bell with anyone???[?]

Hmmm my old car was a 4dr Monza red RS that apparently was associated with Essendon Motorsport (yes, I know how dodgey that sounds).. Essendon...? S&M...? maybe I miSheard originally.

Does it have tramp rod brackets welded to the chassis? A 2dr rear seat instead of a 4dr one? 3.89 diff, stocko engine, battery in boot?

I think Wheels mag did a write up on a turbo charged 4 dr developed by a speed shop back in the 80's but I cannot recall much more.

The story is on here somewhere I think.....

Avon, yep it has tramp rod brackets as well as a panhard rod and the battery was mounted in the boot where the spare wheel normally sits.
I picked the car up as a rolling shell from a wreckers minus motor & interior,so i dont know what sort of seats it had.
The car was Monza Red with the usual RS blackouts on the sills etc.
On the sill panels it also had S & M Motorsport lettering in silver.

Wasn't S&M Motorsport the business that evolved from TVE? Steve Neisner and Matt(not sure of his surname)owned it and Rich from this forum(cant remember his user name)worked for them...[?]

Hmm prob not my old one then... it didn't have a panhard rod or any lettering on it. Good luck with the search!

    Hey Esqrt,

I seem to recall that Steptoe (the wrecker you purchased it from) said he picked it up from Montmorency as was (rolling shell). Anyone from on here from Monty way?

Avon - who did you sell the car too, maybe it changed hands in between - maybe several times!

That is my old car - what do you want to know about it - would you believe that I could not even give it away at the time - 2 years ago.

I cannot remember when I bought the car - but was from a guy in Greenborough in about 1996 or so.

It hade globe wheels, retrimmed interior with scheel seats and Gas Research throttle body conversion.

I spent a bit on it putting in panhard rod and tramp bars, anti dive kit, koni's, volvo calipers, 16x7 Roh Wheels, Type 9 5 speed. At one stage it had gas turbo motor and I went to SFS in it. Another stage had a frank lowndes engine with twin 45's.

Spent a bit of time getting rust out of it (it did not have much).

Broke it via this forum and no one wanted the shell (check the archives) so rang that wrecker and told him to come pic it up.

The car was off the road for a very long time sitting in a barn - I reacon off road between 02 - 06 or so.

I bare metalled the car inside & out & have just had a completed a respray.paintwork consisted of engine bay, inside boot floor etc & the undercarriage as well as the exterior.
I did all the bodywork at home, took it into work & applied the color there (for a job i manage a panel shop)Have a set of 15 inch V4 Simmons for it as well as a few other trick bits

Interior i have sourced & had retrimmed(scheel seats etc) and im currently gathering parts for the engine re-build.

I have taken pics of all the work right thru to this point.
