Hey mate. Do you mind tellin me what the arches cost ya? Ive got fiberglass ones but Im thinking of trying to offload em and get steel ones.

360 pound plus postage for the arches. They're drilled and countersunk and came with rivets. 68 pound for the front spoiler. I think the postage was a fair bit, probably about 100 pound or so. The expensive bit to send is the spoiler on account of its length.

Here's the internal opening to the gussets that i was talking about. They'll get the original plug reinstalled as this will allow for inspection of the area behind the gusset. The top holes will be plugged with steel and welded shut.

how do you find welding upside down, something i can't seem to do.. well not well anyway if it ain't horizontal it's gunna look like a heap of pluber poo poo lol

Welding upside down? Haven't tried that.
On vertical welds i use vertical up movements mainly. I'm still not the best at it. Horizontal i do backhand. I haven't had to do any overhead welds yet.

when vertical up or overhead welds, be sure to protect your neck and head. if using a mig with gas, you should 'push' the handpiece, but i guess gassless can be dragged.

Today's work. Continued removing paint from the newly stripped front panels. Had to stop on account of running out of wire brushes for the grinder. I've been using brass ones as they don't eat into the steel like twisted wire ones do.  There was a little bit of the old front panel still attached to the drivers side headlight area. That's been removed.  I've started stripping the drivers side wing. Looks good so far.  I dug out my replacement panels for a trial fitment with vicegrips holding the panels in place. Looks promising so far.

Its best to do vertical down welds to reduce lumpy welds and lava landing on your feet, move the gun faster when doing 'downs', welder settings remain the same .

Cool. I'll give it a go on my next vertical weld. I have plenty of seam welds to do so i should get some good practice in.

I've finished stripping the drivers side wing. The area around the arch will go so i left that paint there.  Got sick of the sound of the grinder (even through ear muffs it gives me the brace and bits) so i switched to the welder. I've finished the seam welding around the strut and firewall on the passengers side.   And i've done the strut top. Good penetration on the seam welds.  After years of wearing black gauntlet's, i've switched to TIG welding gloves with leather palms. Much better feel. The yellow thing keeps my hair from catching fire.

when you say you do vertical up's what technque do you use? the weave or cristmas tree? or the 4's ( i prefer the 4's straight up cut down to the left weve over and repeat, but as said waste of time to be onest just more grinding and not need on 0.9 mm steel

Today's welds were all vert downs. I use curved zig zags cause the metal on cars isn't really that thick.
