Hey Fordsy, Looking a little different from when I saw it last. In a good way though. Good too see your doing some work to it and getting closer to the finished product. Just remember me when you need to off load certain "PARTS" we discussed! . Keep us informed with the progress. Chippa

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! The spit works Steve. Now all you need to do is work out how to get it back into that garage of yours. [:x)] Did you need any help from the Minister for Finance?
Regards, Craig.

I did need a hand. I needed some eyes to make sure I didn't tip the whole thing over. It rolls just fine. I just need to make the room in the garage to get it in.
Hence the cleanup. I also want to have just the bits off this car in the garage... not bits off several.

love the rotissery mate, the use of 2x engine stands is fantastic.! I have made about 5x rotisseries now, Escorts, Anglias and now (or tomorrow) am making 1 for a Dat.1600 shell i'm restoring for a mate....and yes , i did get my garage blessed b4 the imposter car moved in so as not to spread rust and Datsun germs all over my Fords! The 'spits' usually cost me around $160 in steel and 2x days cutting and welding.

I've been spending the last week or so stripping paint from the doors and replacement bonnet. I dunno what's worse. The smell of methyl chloride or the sore arms from using the grinder with wire wheel.
I did find some room in my budget and ordered a set of alloy forest arches from prepfab. Pics when they arrive.

I've also given the underneath a good going over with the Karcher and some degreaser. Looks much better, although the drive is now covered in crap. Next step is the CT18 then i'm on to the rust repairs.

Been working on the doors, boot lid and bonnet. I've stripped them of paint using stripper and a wire wheel on a grinder. The doors are now in etch primer with the bonnet being done tomorrow. The car will be sprayed in acrylic as 2 pak really isn't suitable for the home garage. Dunno why this pic is the wrong orientation. I've also got a new X member with mounts for the 2 litre. The passengers side wing has been removed so I can attend to the A pillar. Since i'm going to all this trouble, i've decided to replace the front panel and slam panel as both are dinted and have been repaired at some point.

Bonnet and bootlid are both in etch but i haven't taken pics of them. My spare rear 1/4 has been stripped so i can cut the repair section out for the drivers side C pillar.

I got a couple of very nice deliveries yesterday. The first one weighs 3.4kg and is a healthy baby girl. I'm now a Dad! The second came from the UK in the form of some alloy arches for the Mk2. They come predrilled and countersunk. They also sent the rivets to attach them. The first trial fitment (me in the cold and dark lining them up by hand) looks very encouraging. I'm just waiting for some panels to arrive from NZ and then it'll be full steam ahead! plus I got permission today to spend a bit and get the bottom end of the motor rebuilt. It doesn't get much better than this.

Congratulations Steve, I didn't even realise you were expecting. Better get the Escort built real quick mate before the kids take more than their fair share of the pay packet! Shiny things look good too. Regards, Craig.

Congrats Steve! Being a dad is just the best thing ever. But how you've managed to find the time to still work on the car at such an early stage in your daughter's life is beyond me. My little one is now six months old and I can count on one hand how many times I've ventured out into the garage! Lucky bugger... Car's coming along nicely. Enjoy fatherhood!

Well, two months on and the project has moved on a little... about two car lengths to be precise. I've now got the shell back in the garage and have tidied up the final remains of the Mk1 i cut up ages ago.
The little one now has something resembling a routine so I should be able to get the mig out again and start patching up the rust.
Fingers crossed.
