Monts MKII 4 Door
Well It has finally arrived, Got my new project delivered this morning, as the title suggests- it is a 1977 4 door MkII, 1600, auto. The body does require a fair bit of attention, but its a project after all! Will post pics tomorrow when i roll her out of the shed. Looking forward to some knowledgable advice from you fella's, and some ideas on what to power her with. Cheers guys. Mont5.0

Hey Mont, Sounds like a good start to a project particularly with the auto tunnel (it will save you some effort with g/box conversions). Looking forward to the pics and remember just because it's a 4 door doesnt mean it wont look as good as a 2 door As for engine choice the sky is the limit, From a 1600 xflow to a 2 litre pinto, And for a lot more power there is always the yb cosworth turbo the nissan sr20det the zetec and of course my fav the 2.0 or 2.3 litre i4 duratec Restoration? Take your time do it right once or not at all imo[|)]

well, what great fun i have had in the last week, stripped her down. haven't found any extra rust-(good thing). one question though, will it still pass bluey (slip) if the front guards are bolted back on rather than welded back on?. I assume they are welded on from factory for strength, but would it be an issue if they where bolted back on like most other cars? your comments and views would be much appreciated. (pics to come)

have been sorting through the varies powerplants, and have decided on maybe a turbo charged 2l pinto motor. Has anyone who has tackled this combo have any recommendations on diff? will the 2 litre Box be upto the task? Cheers. Mont5.0

if i remember correctly i think ive seen some turbo pintos with standard box or 5 speed...
diff will have to be changed. the most popular seems to be hilux or similar, one guy cut a corty diff, fit it to the escort, then changed the center to a EB xr6 LSD.

Hmm. interesting sterling. that would be 3.45 ratio. anyways. Plans have changed, No longer going to be regoed. Pure Drag car only (good when i live 5 mins from the creek ) Have sourced some good parts (from this forum- with more to come)Now have 2 Litre low K motor and EFI (thanks shannon)- am planning on turboing it, and running powerglide. (haven't decided on diff yet). anyways- heres some pics of the recently removed firewall. all vents are going to be plated. No more heater bubble, wipers, dash, interior, console etc. hopefully be welding in the new firewall this weekend. stay tuned... This last shot has nothing to do with the escort what so ever, but is what's keeping me sane till the escort is finished. (and NO the commie is not mine) will update as more progress is made. Cheers, Mont5.0
