Is that a catalytic converter? I thought the cat' con' must be positioned as close to the engine as possible for fast light-off and reduced cold start emissions??

On the subject of emissions, do you have to use all emission gear and factory ECU? Will it pass engineer inspection if you don't?

Would love to read more detail of current mod's and future planned mod's if possible please, makes good reading..

to me it looks like the car is floating. the stands are for the exhaust, and to simulate full bounce of the rear suspension (making the diff go up in the body as high as is possible)..... didn't no ca18's could hover?

"possible" might be the key word... anyhow, maybe mickas can answer that better??

engine will run all emission gear standard with the factory install. just it will be much harder to find.. ecu will be standard..ish

the engineer has answered it need to meet the requirements of the car age, not the engine... let's say that im very glad I moved states

just an illusion, there is a jack under the engine crossmember, 2 stands, one under each chassis rail, and the rear is still on the rotiserie.. certainly no floating going on..
wheels are sitting a "ride" height, with 2inchs of bump still available.. bump stops are not included in bump clearances.

I may have made that sound better than it is.. basically under the code, modification of the "replacement" engine in terms of carbs/cams/aftermarket ecus, thus will then require a gaseous emissions test. Additionally, the engine year is 87 and falls into the second edition ADR's as does the car, so there is nothing really scary. There are also seperate "mandatory ungraded safety equipment" that are required as a minimum for any engine install.

Only advice I can offer... The only person you need listen too is the person that will sign off on the modification. Its worth the cost of meeting the engineer to discuss what exactly he/she wants, as that can change between engineers even in the same state. Im in tassy now, I did the same thing in qld and the reactions were very different.

Id prefer an answer with some info rather than just "telling" how it is
