4.0lt falconm motor in a LJ Torana

Hey all,

Bit of a different project to a esky but thought id put it up none the less..aside to my escort rally car, my dad has a LJ GTR XU1 sports sedan..that had all the usual fruit.. worked 202 etc.. but as bits got harder to get dad and i decided to go 'different' and try and fit a EA falcon 3.9lt motor with a T5 gearbox..well after 8 months of graft she lives! and with no injection we made a custom inlet manifold for 3 x 45 webbers!.. this setup staying in for 2 years until we decided to update (remember this motor was a bog standard motor cost $150, and in that state was as quick as hugly updated s15 silvias, 80k sportscars etc) so now it has a fully blueprinted/balanced EF XR6 motor..that makes near 30-40kw more than the old motor did!

Shes a wild beast..even uses a mk2 esky engine mount on the passanger side! but anyway ill let the pics tell the story have a look see and ask any questions sorry its not a classic ford in a sense but a bloody awesome engineering feat and i hope you all can agree

Cheers
Matty

the Torana!

After the original motor was installed in 2006

The New motor going in.. 2008

and all installed and running!

im going to get a video of it running soon so ill post that once i do

Looks good, go the ford um Holden, lol!
One question though, you sure thats an EF XR6 and not an EL XR6. The EF ran coil pack whilst the EL went back to dizzy (which can be clearly seen in the pics). Anyways great Job!!

hehe we call it a toralcon! yep its definatly at EF because we removed the standard dizzy and replaced it with a XD dizzy so we could keep points and run the Torana wiring

what do they put into the water down in nowra these days? [88]

interesting car, still dont understand these types of conversions though. guess its just a mental thing as i have no issues with conversions of other type, jap stuff in Escorts is perfectly fine. just something about swapping ford/Holden bits that irks me a little

    cool car none the less
