The red RS belongs to a guy named Matthew, who is an RSOCVic club member. Think he lives around your way, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was him. It's his daily and usually runs on gold FR17s.

Had a great day at Winton with GDUB and Chippa666. It was bitterly cold and there was a sprinkling of rain, but otherwise relatively incident free (just don't get me started on a certain blue Mk2 Escort!).

It was Marc's (Chippa's) first ever sprint and he did really well running a 1:53 on pretty ordinary tyres!

GDUB improved his times again, as did I, albeit by only 0.2 seconds . But, it was good enough for third in class so I can't complain. More horsepower needed me thinks!

The Winton Sprint series is run by Winton themselves, rather than by a club who has hired the circuit. It's basically a case of fill in your entry form, nominate which class you want/are eligible to run in, and send it off with payment. Then you just turn up on the day in time for scrutineering, a 15min practice, and the drivers briefing.

Most sprint events will allocate groups, and you run in the same group every time. Winton just call it by session, so you just line up whenever you like. It's good that way as you can run with your mates if you want to. Once everyone has completed their first session, they call the second one and drivers can begin lining up again.

The first timed session at Winton has around 8 cars lining up single file at the start/finish line and are released one by one at 8 second intervals, running one standing lap followed by two flying laps. Every subsequent timed session has around 16 drivers starting 2 by 2, and it's then a drag race to the first corner. This time it's one standing followed by three flying. We had four timed sessions in total.

At the end of the day they take your fastest standing lap, and add it to your fastest flying (doesn't matter if they were in different sessions) to give you a total time. This is how the final standings are worked out for each class.

Yes I still have it. It hasn't seen a lot of action of late and is just acting as a daily at the moment. I went at the whole sprinting side of things fairly hard last year, so I need to focus on a few other things around the house now - especially now that I'm a dad. The car (or perhaps the driver?) has plateaued somewhat and would require a decent spend to go quicker. Something I'm not prepared to do at the moment. See what happens next year.

Springs are off-the-shelf Kings front and rear with Whiteline camber bolts in the front set to -1.5 degrees camber. Shocks are stock. Bushes are stock except for the front sway bar drop links. Plenty of areas to improve on, but as I said it's just not for now.

Have fun with the KH. Just by uprating the springs, adding camber bolts and a good set of tyres you will have a ball. Just keep an eye on your oil temperature. A small oil cooler is a wise investment and makes a big difference.

Semis would make a big difference. I run on 'performance' road tyres which have been very good, but Rs would be nice. A race seat and harness also make a big difference.

With regard to the oil cooler, I mounted mine vertically next to the radiator support panel brace. There was a perfectly sized space for it. I made my own brackets to pick up existing bolts, rather than drilling holes.



The cooler I bought had no mounting lugs, so rubber strips are sandwiched between the cooler and the mounts so there is no metal to metal contact.



Once it was in I cut 'nostrills' behind the number plate for a little more airflow across the core.



Oh, and do yourself a favour and get a remote filter block. I now have a large Z9 filter mounted off the chassis rail. The stock filter location is a pain in the bum being tucked right up under the inlet manifold. I got over filter changes very quickly. With the filter and cooler I've added a litre to the oil capacity.
