Hey Mish, Was good to meet you at Small Ford Day SA, was impressed by your car and the group as a whole, was cool to see to a heap of new Escorts and some I'd read about on the forums over the years which I had been waiting to see in the flesh so to speak. If it happens again be sure to give us a heads up, we will organise a pub run with some of SA best driving roads through the hills Cheers, Rhys

+1 to what Rhys said, you hit the nail on the head Was really good to meet you Mish and all the vic guys. And Mish, your car was my favourite at the show by far. Has a killer stance that ive never seen on an escort before. When I finally get the photos I took off my girlfriends phone ill put them up on the other thread Cheers Ryan

ok guys so im back to the age old question of what setup to run...... onlything stopping me from being more then 50% happy with the 15's is how narrow the car looks due to not being able to wind the front out due to the std tie rods ect. compared to so ive been looking at these, to hopefully allow me to get the front a little wider, any one used these? http://smckaperformance.com.au/shop/steering/tie-rod-oem-style-escort-2-2/

I think the 13s look the part. If we could legally get away with it here is SA I would have 13x8s and stretched tyres Are the 13s ok as far as driveability is concerned? I understand the 15s are easier to find tyres for so thats a big plus but I reckon if I had the two sets and a choice itd be the 13s that got the gig. Ryan

yes ryan i agree it looks the tits on 13's, but as in SA wheels popping out past guards and lots of stretch is highly illegal and not ideal for something that i want to drive as much as i can. car drives fine on the 13's (Sydney and Adelaide trips both on 13's) but tends to be a bit firmer and requires a bit more rpm to sit on hwy speeds As for traction with the quality of tyres available in 13" format these days im hard pushed to put power to the ground. and silly 175's over 8" wheels doesnt help.....

so that leads me to today.. got a bit bored so went and visited the car to see if i could make it all work out. managed to squeeze the 15's in whilst running the 13" wheel setup had to wind the castor back as far as the bar would allow but they just just just get in there. and believe me or not that actually turn too....... without touching anywhere fill the guards nicely too so finally i have the 15's sitting in the guards where i wanted them, nice and wide and low, and have a decent size wheel and tyre under the car too.

Yea last thing you want is unwanted attention every time you drive. Great to see you made the 15s fit, looks real good. Havent seen a closer fitting wheel before!

This looks spot on with 15s mate, I personally don't like the 'jdm' escort look at all. Good to meet you at sfs, hopefully some of us can make the trip to vic next year ! Cheers

long time no update... decided it was about time I bought some sticky tyres and through this thing around a track, well im half way there... got some barely used AO48's in 205/60R13 for an absolute steal, only problem know was what to mount them on a mate had a mismatched set of 13x6.5" hotwires that had some decent rash and needed some love, so while they werent the elusive 7" wide rims i was after the price was right and i had some spare time (and the use of his shed, Thanks again jye) i have them a file, sand and polish then a coat of black in the centres. came out pretty decent, just hope they fit well with the tyres on.
