rally tas

Footage from John's RS1600 at Yolla in Rally Tasmania last weekend. Unfortunately we holed the sump and lost most of our oil and had to retire whilst in seventh outright. Car was running great up until then and we where just starting to get in the groove. We decided to retire it before damaging a very strong BDA.

there are some more vids of the entire event on the offical web site too which is i think www.rallytasmania.com.au

this was the first rally tas i have missed since 1995 but it was also probably one of the smallest entries (of proper cars) in maybe 5 or 6 years. pity. let's hope it comes back nice and strong for next year

The numbers were a disappointment this year however the quality and pace of the top 12 or so cars was the best its ever been. Under the new ownership the event was better than ever so I am sure that once word gets around the numbers will increase. The street stage on the edge of Burnie CBD was a real highlight and it would be worth doing the rally for that alone. Cant wait to get back there next year. For anyone thinking about doing tarmac rallies this is the best fun, best value rally of all and most of the stages suit the Escort.

It is a .flv format, windows in my experience doesn't have a flv player by default so you might have to download a flv player to watch.

First up, what a top vid that was!! Classic pace notes and delivery. Sad to hear about the sump.

Duane, the flash player is a browser plugin from Adobe. In the long run, its pretty small and worth having. grab it from here http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash and just untick the google bar option before installing.

yeah the pace was fast this year, Les will run a good event, he knows his rallying and it is brilliant to see him putting back into the sport so much. i was surprised with the street stage though, after the last attempt a few years ago to run one which had to be cancelled as they couldnt control the crowd! there was a couple of thousand people trying to watch it and they all were linning the streets. would have looked brilliant, like a proper old 80's rally but not very safe. sounds and looked like they had better crowd control. the north west is the best place for a rally. has the best roads in the state. well savage river is there and the event is worth it just for that bit of road alone!
