I am not 100% sure, but that name does sound familiar, what color was it?

Hi All,

Thought I'd give a quick update on the progress.

I have been running in the Victorian Hillclimb championship series. I missed the first round, but so far the car has finished 3rd, 5th and two 2nd's in class. Before the last round I made some front suspension mods to the car (more neg and more caster) which was a big improvement. I intend to fit some different rear leaves and new shocks before the next round also.

The new engine has been on hold, as I am waiting for some vernier cam gears to arrive from the States, they are currently on backorder over there. I have been running the engine as is (basically standard apart from extractors and webers). For the interim I had some mild camshafts made up, and tidy'd up a cyl head, upped the compression slightly and they were fitted to the car this week. It has been a great improvement, car gets re-dyno'd next week with the new bits, but it feels great and has made a definate improvement for the better. This mod will do me until the good engine is finished.

The next round is in 4 weeks, will post some piccies when I get a little more time,

Cheers
Woz

Hi All,

Well another quick update....!

Been down and spent over an hour on the dyno tonight, along with Simon's Laser (refer to his TX3 post for his results). Results were much better than expected.

When I first fitted the engine it made 77kw at the wheels, bog stock standard, fitted with extractors and 45mm webers. It has been like this up until last week.

Basically I had some mild cams ground, and tidy'd the cyl head up (literally dismantling it, and running a flap wheel under the valves and making the shape slightly better, took about an hour, and fitted some new valve stem seals) and also machined .020" off the surface to up the compression a bit.

It felt good right from the start without a tune. After trying a few combo's in the webers, and playing with the timing, we ended up with 2mm larger chokes in the webers, and altered the air correction jets also, as well as altering the ignition timing settings it made just over 97kw at the wheels, with a noticable torque increase also. Very happy for such a little mod.

Can't wait to have the good motor done now after seeing these results, lots of potential.

Cheers

Hey Woz,

Great job. Heard all about it from Simon the other night. What rpm did you make peak power and what was the torque figure? After what we discussed the other week at Simon's place I think I'll be a go with it also. I've got to try and keep the TX3 up with you guys on the track as much as possible- so long as I don't break something this weekend at winton!!!

Again mate, Well done. And well done to Simon who got respectable results from his TX3 also. Keep us informed on your progress with the cars guys.
