Thanks Guys,

Zac, it is running, but very rich.  Will have to pull a lot of fuel out as the map I have clearly aren't for the 550cc injectors I have in it now.

I'm also realising that sooner rather than later, I'm going to have to upgrade the ECU. I haven't managed to find anyone in VIC that is willing to play with it yet :(  So it looks like I'm going to have to do my best with the wideband, finetuning it myself until I can bribe someone to get it on their dyno. Even rang EMS to find that the temp and water senders are no longer available, which makes tuning even more of a challenge.

Once the weather improves (as I dont have a shed!) I'll pull the old engine, trim the crossmember to suit the cossie sump, and drop it in.

Shaun

Haven't done a great deal on the escort of late. Probably why this thread was buried down in the pages.
Managed to lunch the engine in the escort. I stupidly missed replacing the hex drive in the dizzy, therfore no oil pump, very ugly outcome. Anyway, means I've had to bulid the new bottom end sooner than i'd like.

In the mean time, I've managed to buy a new place that has actually has a shed, so everything is on hold until we move. Been packing things in boxes and have needed to put the corty back together after 18 years!!!! Suprisingly most of the bits are still around.

Here are some pics of the pieces for the new bottom end and custom inlet manifold. Will all be on hold until I move in late July.

Hey Shaun. If you're still persisting with the EMS i have an air temp sensor and possibly a water one too.

Good luck with the move to the new shed, gotta love that!

Tar's for getting there. Dirt's for racing!

Well,

It's been a loooong time in between drinks and the escort had been shelved for quite some time.

Now almost 3 yrs later, (lots of changes including another addition to the family), and finally the motivation is back, so time to get the escort back up and running....

Recap. Just before I moved to our new place with a shed, I managed to lunch the old engine and then, once rebuilt, the old EMS somehow decided to pack it in during the move.  Turns out I lost one of the injector drivers and as they are such an old dinosaur of a unit with no tech support, I was up for a new ecu.

After more than a few drinks in the shed one night, and after watching one too many crazy Swedish tuners with big turbos on their BMWs Saabs and Pintos and I bought an Ecumaster ECU. Now, I've never been one for doing things buy the book, however, even this, an ecu with very, very limited Australian support was a stretch for me.  So, after a much searching, I managed to get hold of a tuner from Sweden, who emailed me a nice little base tune

While I was at it, I thought I might redo the bottom end as the cosworth bottom end had too low comp ratio.

The new shopping list has included,
EcuMaster ECU
1000cc injectors
GT30 turbo
45mm external wastgate
LS1 coils
E85 PTFE fuel lines and fittings
Proflow pump, surge tank and filters
Specialized Piston Services custom forged pistons.
Maxspeeding rods
36-1 trigger wheel and sensor
Ceramic sprung clutch. (may yet go auto)

Needless to say the postie, and the bank balance, have been getting a workout.

I'm pretty busy with work atm, but hope to have the car back up and running later in the year.

I'll get some updated pics soon.

Shaun

Wicked Shaun.

Im keen to see your ls1 coil set up and how you'll be going about it. Ive been trying to research a set up guide for this with no luck for the pinto. Im personally not up to that stage yet but updating the ignition system is common search i tend to do at night time

Where was the trigger and wheel bought from?

Expect 400hp plus out of this set up bro!

Cheers.
