Tim, do you drive the white MK1 with the black 1/4 bumpers?

Sorry, I got rid of all my crossflow stuff years ago. The only thing I have is the 1100 little screamer still in the white escort. Might put some psi through it and see how long it lasts...lol

Since I am on this thread, some new parts arrived in the mail the other day.... Mexico front and drivers side footwell. Just have to get on to Geoff to buy some twink guards now and the body work is sorted.

Hopefully the corty will end up something like this.... minus the 351!

Tim, overseas in June? Wouldn't be working in America would you?

Lucas, here are some pics of the corty taken a while back. You'll have to excuse the dust. Pinto with psi and injection. Suspension up front is Billet Racing camber + caster adjustable. P16 calipers with slotted dba brakes.

Strut tops look the part but have you had them on the wheel aligner to see what you get in adjustment with the large hole strut top should be just about maximum without any other mods from the top. They are still a compromise as you alter the caster you also alter the camber at the same time. May be good for the road settings will tell you and steering response is always the true indication.

Cheers Tim.

Hey Timw,

Have yet to set them up on the wheel aligner, so far just with carefull measurement at home. I got them many years ago and at the time there wasn't much available for the MK2 corty. Still isn't now![}:)] Price was comparable with an adapted set of Kmacs and I got the strut brace with it. The strut brace alone seems to makes a big difference in the front end but the real test will be in the handling.

'They are still a compromise as you alter the caster you also alter the camber at the same time.'

I'm not sure what you mean by this? The tops swivel (2 piece) so you can adjust either independently. The compromise is in the 4 set positions however with the range of movement you can set it up near anywhere. Certainly more than enough for the weekend warrier it is being built for. Then again, if I wanted real handling, I'd weld up the rear doors or stick with my Escorts...

Been hard to stay motivated of late..

short of funds, back at uni

While selling some spare parts off to fund the project, I had the old turbo setup bolted up for photos and thought.... I may as well see how much fun i can have with some standard bottom ends before I get rid of it.....

Besides, it looks neat enough and suits the old school theme of the car while I save for a new ecu as my EMS module was junk... [8~2]

And how the engine bay looks now. Just waiting on a mig to weld up the old holes.

Anyone need an 1100?

Well, it's been awhile, but managed to pull my finger out last weekend and do some work on the escort. My black lowback seat covers arrived from the UK after 3+ months in transit. After a clean up they have come up looking mint, with only a small tear on the back of the rearseat upright and a tiny 'melt' mark from a cigarrette on the back seat. The front buckets are perfect!!! So far I've stripped the old red seat covers and I'm waiting on some hog pliers and additional foam before recovering. I also managed to get a set of black f+b door cards that will do nicely.

Have now removed both front guards and front panel section and am in the process of fitting a replacement panel and trimming the fiberglass guards so they fit the way I want them to.

Will post some pics up soon.

Ok, so here are the low back seats I managed to obtain. As much as I loved the 70's red velour, it was ditched in favour of some original black vinyl to suit the mexico theme.

Before,

Covers before cleaning,

After cleaning and fitment,

Looking scary, yes the wheel is on the wrong side...

Intercooler fitment????

End of a hard days work...

Thanks Nigel,

Front panel isn't welded on yet. I dont think my welding skills, (nor my mig), are up to it. Are you offering?

Just going to need some work around the seams and where the lights go but should line up pretty well.

Pulled the heater bubble off the other day. I was a little worried as it had been riveted on so was unsure about what I would find....

To my suprise it was almost perfect, with only a little surface rust!!!

Now I can start cracking along with the engine bay. Just have to decide what to do the with radiator section as I've never been a big fan of cutting it out.

Have been plugging away slowly now there is more light in the evenings.

Trial fitted a block with the celica box, injection and turbo setup.

Celica box required the original mounts to be cut of the tunnel, the gearstick hole moved forward slightly, and yes, a lot of massaging with a FBH however after 4 trial fittings, it now fits with clearance.

Also welded the front section on and have fitted one side of the fiberglass guards. My bet is manufacturing tolerences of Escorts 30+yrs ago were a bit sloppy to say the least. [8~2] What a horrid job.

Front section welded in place.

Passenger side twink guard midway through fitment.

How the motor sits. Is a little high, will need to slot the mounts slightly.

Should be enough room for a decent radius on the dump pipe.

Been busy with the wire wheel and chassis black. Amazing how much neater everything looks. Messy job though...[}:)]

Engine is now out and engine bay is prepped and ready for paint (Once it stops raining and warms up here, what happened to summer?)

Should be in and re-wrapping the loom next week!!
