MK2 RS2000 DURATEC 2.3 ***Completed****

The plan, put a Duratec 2.3 into my RS2000.

But before I get to the good part of purchasing and installing the engine I have a few tasks to complete.

To date I have completed:
Rear disc brakes.
Installed a quafe LSD with 4.11 crown wheel and pinion.
Cleaned out the inner guards, re-apply sound deadner and paint.
Installed Grp4 Front Capri Stuts with Wilwood 4 Pot Calipers.
Rebuilt Sierra Type 9 Gearbox, all new syncros, syncro inserts and bearings.
Repainted the cross members.
Repainted the steering rack.
Restored the steering rack and re-painted it.
Installed new fuel neck rubber.

Looks fantastic, cant wait to see more. I noticed the adjustable spring platform to suit larger dia springs. Any specific reason for choosing this, to keep a 'relatively' standard looking front end?

Rhys i think the 2.3 came out in oz the the mazda3 sp23 and the mazda6. You can buy used duratecs at very good prices from Eurospeed though.

With the spring diameter, I want to use the car for everyday use and some tarmac. You can have 2.5inch springs but you sacrifice the ride comfort.

    Duratec 2.3 can be sourced from Mazda3 SP23 115Kw and Mazda6 SP23 122Kw or Mazda MPS Turbo 190kw.

I am going with the Duratec becuase Eurospeed is developing complete kits for installing them into Mk1's and Mk2. But please don't hassle Geoff at the moment he is extreamly busy with this development. I don't know when Eurospeed will be in a good position sometimes that never happens. Maybe Danny will let us now.

To give an example my struts are made up form five companies. Eurospeed, Palmside, JMCMotorsport, Ralloy and Burtons. Its easier to get all the info from one company rathering having to deal with five.

Ah the dreaded budget question, I was waiting for that one.
let's say I might just get under $20,000.00. eBay has got me hooked with those little hard to get parts from the UK. I am keeping an excel spreedsheet on spendature not a good thing but it helps to slow you down abit.

    Hi there Bill,
Good to see it is all still coming along. I am about to head back down to canberra next year for work. It has been 6 years, doesn't seem that long. Only problem is I don't have an Escort anymore just a little KE70 corlla. I will look you up when I get back down there next year and have a look at the car.

    Cheers
    Paul

Don't get to excited they are a set RS Capri laser rims I purchased from Germany. Now JMC Motorsport has replicas at 7 x 13 I wanted a pair of those.
