RS First Drive with new motor - YouTube added !
Guys, Its been a while coming but finally got the RS back home and took it for its first drive this morning and its pretty good no oil leaks or major dramas needs some fettling as it really takes off in first and second gear above about 3000rpm but beyond that its very flat so some playing around with the carb needs to be done. It hasnt been washed for 12 months here but its just warming up for its first drive  From the rear with the chasers Spent yesterday changing the wheels over and putting the new electronic dizzy in it has to one of the few times that something that I have added has worked first go just got on the net and downloaded the wiring diagram for the Crane XR700 and connected it up accordingly the trigger wheel inside the dizzy had been put together without the shim so added one I had from another dizzy and started first pop, took a bit longer than that to get it idiling, but at least it goes ! Here you go Paul ! Went for another drive to get to run it in a bit more, gave it a wash after the first drive this morning and have included an nice shot of the engine bay.  Exterior on 2nd Drive  Engine bay Have you recieved the speedo cable yet ? BLOWNMK12L

No, not yet. Thanks for posting it back etc  Did you respray the engine bay as it looks a bit nicer than when i last saw it

Yeah resprayed the bay, specs on the motor;
2.1 Lt overbore
Double Valve springs
Custom ported head with anti-reversion treatment
Big Cam of unknown origin (had to take material out of the valve seat so the springs didn't bind)
Extractors
2 1/2" Exhaust
Lynx manifold w/single 45mm Weber
Cam Vernier
Crane XR700 electronic ignition
4 Speed w/quickshift

escortinadriver - "Anti Reversion" its just a flash term for a special shaped lip on the inlet port to stop the intake charge coming back out with a big cam.
Mark - Live 6 Hours away from wakefield now so may be a while til I get back there but have a bit more time & better facilities where I am now so should be posting a few videos of local events that I attend, hoping to compete every couple of months and get some of these projects finished.

haven't set them up yet, will be getting rego and then lowering the front and rear then try for 2deg neg camber, have 3deg on my beige car but I will be driving this RS daily and on reasonably long trips so I dont want to be buying tyres all the time, on my beige car I have added swaybars front and rear, tramp rods, capri struts that are 1in shorter already with bilstein inserts, good lowered springs, reversed the eyes on the leaves and did most of it gradually and the one thing that made the biggest difference was the strut tops on the beige car I have NOLTEC tops and they give you heaps of adjustment, but once it was setup it was like driving a different car, completely transformed.

So its been a while since I put an update on here about the RS, I have fitted my new wheels 13x7 Superlite's and I cant wait to get it rego'd and lowered, no problems smokin these either ! 205's on the back and 185's on the front, I will eventually go across to 185's all round but as I had some good 205's I thought id use them up first. Its running great so just reco'ing the brakes at the moment, got some braided lines from SMCKA (thanks again) I had some rebuilt calipers with near new pads on the shelf which will go on then some new shoes for the back and some new wheel bearings.
