You can fit a 17x10 inside my wheel arches with the right offset. The only reasons I didn't go the 17x10 is that engineering a 10 inch wide wheel would be very hard. And getting a tyre with a diameter small enough to fit inside an escort wheel well doesn't exist. I can fit a tyre larger in width than a 255/40/17 but any bigger and the diameter won't fit. My current wheels have a 6 inch back space and a 4 inch front. The 17x7 on the front are a tight fit but go under.
The Rod Andrews tubbs were $250, that is supply only though. And the entire original wheel well was removed back to the chassis rail.

My front tyres are 205/40/17 and the rears are 255/40/17. Not sure what that equates to in offset, I am not sure how you calculate it. They are custom made wheels, so the manufacturer was only interested in the front and back rim widths from the wheel centre line.

I think the rear wheel offset is +50. not 100% sure though.

Hi

Looks GREAT!

What length Eagle rods have you used in the Silvertop bottom end? I'm going NA so piston my choice may be different tho.

Looking at the US there seems to be a bigger range of the later Blacktop components (rods, pistons etc) so thinking I might be better going for these. As the crank is the same I'm assuming this will all fit into the Silvertop bottom end? Do they have the same deck height?

Keep the updates coming!

Paul,
My silver top is fitted with black top rods and pistons as the cranks are the same and the deck heights are the same. The heads as far as I am aware are interchangable too.

Thanks.

Yes, I'll probably update to a blacktop head once I have a look at how easily the cam tensioning hardware is to mofify to match the set-up for the Silvertop head. I'm thinking I'll be able to machine up a plate to be able to mount the silvertop tensioner to the Balcktop head (as the blacktop tensioner will foul the Silvertop water pump).
