NO THIS NOT A MD CONVERSION IT IS MY OWN THAT I DID in 1980. about the same time mark was doing one of his first conversions and i tryed to speak to him but he was a RUDE person and still is to this day and at the same time john delic (which we spoke and become good friends) from Sydneys northern beaches was building a panel van with a six cyl turbo and now that has come up for sale and thinking of buying it. DONT LET ANYONE SAY THAT THIS IS A MD BUTCHER CONVERSION THANKS

with the heater bubble cut out the motor fits in there easly and there is plently of room for a v8 takes me about 1/2 hour to do the plugs from on top of engine not underneath, from magnetic steel plates, from inside the car, windsors fit clevos dont

Maybe you should change the plates to "HER 302" so she'll let you paint it now, bugger the extensions[(#)]

and the reason for the ash tray is so i dont throw the cig butt out of the window and cop a littering fine and lose 4 points so for the ashtray ive got to do something with my life so i smoke cigs not pot too dear and dont drink so i smoke ,one day i will give up the dirty habbit

would you believe that ive had these plates since i started my project in 1979. it was the first thing i bought after the car and ive had them ever since tuff plates .i bet you your mate hasnt had them for as long as i had mine

yer any pix of the front brake set up? please

Ahhhh i see, I wonderd what that was when i first looked at your pics.
Do you have any thing else that holds the engine in apart from the gearbox?
2006/06/12 00:08:55
302esky
as with the falcon front brakes the discs are xa xb and the calipers are hq they just dont bolt on you need a adaptor or hub what i did in the 80s was the stub axle was put a left hand thread on the stub and fitted a collar that accepted a falcon wheel bearing and put the disc over it and made a adaptor plate to take the calipers easy but im going to go bigger and like 13 or 14 inch disc with 4 or 6 spot calipers on the front and 4 spot on the rear got other plans for mega horsepower i will be jacking the car up this weekend so i will take some photos of the brakes
2006/06/12 16:28:39
302esky
the front plate holds the engine in and the rear had a x member that ties both chassis rails together it is not that hard to do it was more harder to make a heater/demister and hook it all up than the engine plate and xmembers
2006/06/12 16:33:54
302esky
i used a hq master cyl on the firewall and cause the car came with power booster you must run powered brakes so i used two remote boosters in the boot, 1 for the front and 1 for the rears and two vacuum tanks to hold reserve air cause of the cam and long distance to travel when you press the pedal hard you go trough the windscreen if your not carefull

sorry mate your going to have to work it all out yourself every car is different ,buy your self a motor and gearbox cut the heater bubble out first and then measure the motor and with and length and then cut out floor pan to suit you just cant get diamension of someone else and copy the job just doesnt work in the real world of cars . the heater is custom made the orginal is in the bin big and bulky .if you are using a windsor you cant get the motor far enough back cause the oil pump hangs in the front of the motor chevy is on the rear. are you trying to get to get this rego cause you you cant get it passed cause they changed the laws so they dont want 20yr olds in the front paper with highly modified car dead. if you start this project see a engineer first talk to heaps as they all are different terms and the local rta engineers

I don't wish to hijack your topic in any way, but I too am ded keen on a registered V8 van one day, and you have touched on an interesting point that doesn't seem clear.

As you say the laws have changed to prevent V8 Escorts and the like.. But how about a nice 3.5 rover.. or if that was too big I was even wondering what sleeving one down to 3L would be like.

I've been through the Qld transport dept mumbo jumbo several times.. at the end of the day they give guidelines, that every engy I talk to interperates differently.. Should I just keep asking till one says yes? lol. If anyone knows any of the detail involved in what is allowed, please tell. Qld would be great, but I would register it in any state to get it done, so any will do.:D

one of my mates has a 12 second street legal 302 windsor powered capri... and he was 19 when he got it
5 or so years later the capri is still running never crashed and his still alive...maybe if he wanted to die he sould have bought a motorbike hey????
and now he is building a twin turbs windsor powered eski van...
how old were you when you got this beast registered..
im sure these days its a lot harder than it was years ago to get a rocket like this registered... but im sure with the right engineer and enough $$$ spent it can be done.

in nsw they have a power to weight ratio so the v8 option is out. ive just done a 12a rotor in a esky and they didn't even want to here about a 13b in a esky so you are limited on what you can do and it depends on what state you live in and their crap laws should be like new zealand tubs blowers and moster motors. capris are a different story no firewall mods are needed to put v8 into so are corollas datsun 1600 and mazda capella etc ive heard of heaps of eskys with v8s in them and to be honest ive seen about 6 that come to mind but every says there is this and that with this size motor in a esky so let's get all these ppl that say their mate has this and show me the photos of their mates carscant be that hard

looks like you cant put a v8 in a escort even a v6 commodore motor in an escort in nsw so looks like a rotor will have to be the go
