Australia's most wanted. The holy grail?

There's been a few posts recently about parts that are difficult to source and it gave me an idea.

We all probably have lists of various parts we need, but what's the one thing you've not been able to find, the one holy grail of unobtainium  that you always wish for is listed as "'buy it now" on ebay but never is?
Maybe it's available, but you'd prefer to send your kid to uni.
Maybe if we know the one item, like a 3000 V6 badge someones might be chasing for instance, they might be spotted up at a local garage sale or swap meet.

So for a bit of fun, rules are one item only to start with, and perhaps post a price you'd go to if you think it'd help.
This is going to be mine for a fair while I think, possibly not as hard to find as some other parts, but haven't seen an affordable good one, RS2000 wheel:

I've got a bit of a thing for original radios. Got an AM/FM for the RS but the parts manual says there was a tape player. So far I haven't found one. Still looking for one for the Cortina, heading to a country auto jumble this weekend, will pin a wanted note to the back of my shirt too... if you don't ask you don't get...

^^and a 3 spoke on ebay, that I found about 4 minutes after posting last night.
Currently at $199. How does that happen?

Drew, Ballarat Swap is on next weekend.Super Southern Swap meet.
Massive, but a bit far from you!(?)
I think in about 10 years of going, I've seen maybe 4 capri bits..
May be a few holy grails to be uncovered.

I'm committed Deano but not that committed however... 'adapt and overcome' a workmate is from Ballarat, his old boy attends so I've sent him off a pic of the Cortina radio and he'll keep an eye out, cheers for the heads up.
I did actually find one today in an aladdins cave of Cortina parts. The guy had only found that one in 30 odd years of collecting parts so it wasn't for sale, fair enough, I asked if I could at least touch it haha...
Cheers Drew

I won't get to go until the Saturday this year (Starts on Friday).
Depending on what you want, it may get snapped upon the first day, often only to  re appear on another persons site at a higher price.
Part of the fun is the 'negotiation''.
I've also got this theory that the more cash you take up, the less parts you find.

I've always wanted good Capri front grills. I bought two but they never arrived. Missed out on a few through time or internet connections. I finally found one it was new old stock in a ford bag from Germany. $250 delivered. So happy then opened it and three of the strips have been bent in transport and the seller wrapped the grill with so much care. Ply wood back with cotton on the edges and lots of cardboard wrapped around with special cardboard bungs in the end. My pics won't work to post but now I need a good way to straighten them.

Here's something i bought from ebay Italy a while ago... The seller said the "400" badges are for the mk 1 van they had with a 998cc motor , they are genuine parts but I've never seen any others. The GT badges are genuine casings with repro inserts , bought these locally.

I have never been able to find those littel round bits that sit between the wiper spindle and the wiper arm.  When I was in desperate need I would have given and arm and a leg!!

When you figure out how to refurbish it then let me know, as I have one I'd like to use that has no rubber on it at all!

there are polyurethane kits on US websites.
If I hadn't posted the link up and publicised the auction already, it would be worth buying if the price remained reasonable and giving it a go.
I have an industrial sewing machine  and would leather wrap it after stripping most of the foam off and glueing some  some padding in first. The couple of yacht wheels I have restitched have turned out ok.

Well, If you can refurbish that to near original, you should go into business !!! Clearly there is a big $$ demand for nice items.  Interested to see your results if purchase successful.

Outright purchase only now as I understand it, and the web link is busted (at least using the two browsers I tried).

yep, website is up, but product link within won't work for me either.

I'll give the wheel a go, and if I win it, will post a thread with my success, or most likely, failure in it's resto.

stay tuned to same bat channel.

I bought a couple of wheels for professional restoration, but when that didn't pan out as expected, I put the stripped one on display in my shed as novelty, and I'll have a go at refurbishing the other one myself one day.
