SMCKA closing down?

Website says they are closing down, and no orders taken, only what's in stock. Why? What happened?
Have bought many items from him. Good to deal with and always great service.
Where to go now?

Steve is so busy with his work that he has not got the time to keep this website going and he has a bloke interested in the business and was is going to buy it and carry on as smaka. He is selling all what's left and not ordering any more goods, so if you need some body panels get in quick as the Aussie dollar has dropped against the English pound again. I was at Smakas place 2 weeks ago and spoke to him

Are there any Australian based businesses that have same variety of parts/stock SMCKA did? Place order and it's at your door 24-48 hours later?

I don't think there are.
Its a shame that He is selling up/closing down as it has to be a full time plus job on top of his day job. It was great while it lasted.
Thanks Stephen.

Any news on Smcka's business?  Site says there is new stock coming in Sep., so I'm a bit confused given the contents of this thread.

From the Facebook page .....Well, the good news is I have a buyer for smcka. At this stage the sale will complete this month and the new owner will be placing a stock order soon afterwards. So.... If you want any items and can wait 3-4 months then please email me and I will put a backorder into place.
I am glad that it will continue, there is still many people out there who are asking for parts and its a bit frustrating to have be saying good luck after June 30.
The new owner has plenty of enthusiasm for all the old English Fords and is the owner of a few of them.

Nothing will change, new guy will have same website, email phone number and facebook account.

Hi, Does anyone know whats happening with Smcka. I thought it was moving to Vic and starting resuming trade. I sent 2 messages months ago, one to the web site and one to the phone with no response and no change to the website or facebook site. I need some door pillars for my Mk1 Escort and was waiting for the next shipment.

Their website has been like that forever and if you enquirer you get no response. It may be that if you Harras them you will get a response but it seems at best it's a second or third business that they run. I personally would stay away

umm, I don't think theres a prob chaps.
I bought a set of longer wheel studs to suit fitting the minilights from SMCKA about 3 months ago, and no problem then.

I sussed magnum out for some panels also, at around the same time, wanting to buy direct because I figured I needed a bit of gear.Plus the money tree had a few leaves left then.
They said at the time that SMCKA was aus agent, and to go to them.

Just lucky?

If I think we all need to chip in $10K and set up and Australian Burton/Magnum/Rally aus franchise, and also give the smaller Aus suppliers/ hobbyists more of a combined shopfront.
Uk to Aus Freights the killer.

Purchased a couple of panels from SMCKA last week, quick postage and the new owner Carl is easy to talk to.

If you have trouble reaching the old SMACKA site, ring the new owner Carl during Business hours (03) 9318 7404

I purchased some wheel arch repair sections for my panel van from Carl just before Christmas. I filled out the contact form on his website (leaving my phone number) and he called me the same day. The prices were great and I had the panels a couple of days later. I could have bought them from the UK with the same delivery times i'm sure, but this supports local small business and makes it worthwhile for Carl to keep stock here. Oh and I didn't have to pay $150 in freight.

If I needed them any quicker I could have picked them up but travelling through the western suburbs of Melbourne is scary.

Cheers, Craig.
