Howdy, First post here, Ive been lurking for a while and finally got some pics to put up, picked this car up about a month ago when the missus said she wanted an old ford, canberra car so no rust, had a bit of work done and runs very decently.
2.0 standard weber, 4-2-1 headers, 2.5" exhaust, some sort of cam but im not sure quite what it is...
I just installed an accuspark electronic dizzy which works a treat in the canberra cold weather.

I would like to know more about this car, I suspect he has thrown a few RS2000 bits in but im not sure.

Ill try to get it ready for paint at the end of this year, or early next year...

I also have a whole lot of parts that came with the car, so if anyone is looking for spares let me know, lots of little odd bits and pieces.

Cheers!

Rob

I bought the whole dizzy from ebay with the spark plugs and the rotor for about $140, came in about 3 weeks from UK. You can get just the unit to replace the breaker points for a lot cheaper (something like $40)...

Since then I have ordered a new coil from them too since it was cheap ($30 to the door), i am running a bosch GT40R with it at the moment and according to the instructions the resistance is too low through it and could cause a short life.

Already upgraded the stereo, ive kept the original radio in the front, installed some 6.5" sony components in the rear (using spacers so I didnt have to grind holes in the rear), 12" alpine sub, and set up 2 sets of relays to the driving light switch in the front so I can either have the system in the back running off my MP3 player via a 3.5mm cable to the front, or flick the switch and go to the good old AM radio. Finished this install today and it goes great and well hidden.
Let me know if you want some more info on this install and I can grab pics and info.

Cheers,

Sundowner, I pretty much installed it the difficult way using 2x2pole relays and doing a whole bunch of soldering onto veroboard, just checked on ebay and you can get a 4 pole relay here:
http://www.ebay.com.au/it...mp;hash=item415cc02410
and you would either solder your cables to that, or you could possibly use the small speaker terminals to connect it up.

Hi Rob, Nice escort! great find.  How do you like the pinto?

The engine runs great, ive only ever had 1992 japanese cars (2 charades, feroza, MR2, Hiace). My other daily is a 91 4runner. This is so much fun to drive, it pulls hard, revs high and just sounds awesome. The pinto in the car is not the original, the bloke said it was an exchange from about 3 years ago. As mentioned it has some sort of cam, I had my mechanic do the valve clearances, and he spotted on the cam "MADE IN USA", he couldnt tell me more than that...
Of course I would love a 5th gear, and if I ever find a box locally I would have to grab one.
I've got a spare 4speed that came with the car, going to suss it out and see what it is during the week, hoping for a rocket :)

A pic of the engine bay... Mmmm chrome, I am gradually working through replacing the ****ty "braided" hoses the last owner bought from clints crazy bargains. I've got a lot of tidying up to do in this bay but it should all come out alright.

Looking good dude,

If you want to know what cam it is just take off the rocker cover and have a look to see if there are any stamped marking on the but of the cam.  This is where most makers stamp the ID of the Cam.

Cheers
