Are you planning on driving this car while you have your P's etc??
If so you might want to read this as well..

Full licence however, doesn't apply to above.

Something tells me the car will be ready to "drive" loooong after he's got off his P's!!

I don't understand what your trying to achieve?
Shoe horning the biggest motor possible into an Escort could potentially be the best way to wreck the Escort experience before you've even had it.
Its like a V6 Corolla I drove, yes it fun but handles like crap and isn't good for much other than short straight line bursts.

The best escort to drive on the road is 1600 with dual Throat carby and extractors. the car is well balanced goes ok stops well and is economical and fun to drive.
If you want to do anything with it upgrade the suspension ie.  mainly good gas shocks.
Learn to drive the car properly and then give it more power when you can drive it.
I have rallied 2litre escorts, owned an RS2000 and a few other escorts but the most funto drive was a 1300GT.

I think in this case after the type of questions we've heard, it needed to be asked.. For the many of us which have gone through all this in the past we all know it will be a very very long frustrating and expensive process, and in all honesty may never even be finished? But i may be wrong, and who am I to judge what others want to do.

Have a read throught this link
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au...ctors/vsccs/index.html

then call someone on this list
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au.../vsccs_bulletin_01.pdf

or this bloke
http://www.terrytoomey.com.au/

and ask them what you can and can't do legally with your car. Doesn't matter what anyone says one here or anywhere else cause it's the bloke who signs the car off as roadworthy that determines what you can and can't do.
Also ask how much they charge while you're at it and start saving up.
