Cleaning ideas

Okay so you can buy all sorts of chemicals these days for cleaning brakes, carbs, etc.
But Ive been thinking what can I use around the house .
The old dishwasher is good, but im thinking a baby bottle steamer maybe with a bit of chemical in for small parts?
My missus has one of them steam mop thingys, loads of little attachments (wonder if you soak say an inlet manifold in de greaser first then hit it with the steam thingy what would happen)
Has anyone tried any of these random things before?
