Scortfreak's MK1.

Yes, it's finally here. And it was well worth the wait.

Most of you will know this as Ty's old MK1 which was running the turbo Cosworth. I now own it, engineless but not for long!
Ty and the other owners have done a great job so there's not much more to do, quick plans are to get the worked pinto out of my rally car and put it into this one so I can make it to the Canberra meet. Then possibly supercharge it, or make way for something even quicker.

As is now
"Kermit" Green Paint
15x7 Sapphire Cosworth Rims
Alpine Stereo System
Custom Interior
Sports Exhaust
Celica 5 Speed Gearbox
Alloy Rollcage
Clear Lenses

Current Plan
15x7" Performance Superlites.
Worked Pinto with twin 45's.
Few little touch ups.
Put "ESKIE" numberplates on.
Get it out cruising![:x)]

Engine
Balanced 2lt pinto.
Vernier cam.
GP1 valves.
Twin 45 Webers.
Double valve springs.
Bored 30thou over.

Anyway here's a couple of pictures as is, I'll take some better ones once the engine goes in and I can give it a good clean.

My brick is superior.
... Well actually it's only half a brick, I dropped it and it broke.[:o)]

My mechanic is working out a quote for me at the moment, should have it tomorrow. Which will depend on whether I change the engines over myself or get him to do it. I'd love to do it myself, but I can't stand having it sitting in my driveway without being able to drive it! [xx(][}:)]
Also, should order the superlites over the weekend if everything goes to plan. Got to get it all ready for it's debut in Canberra.

Reminds me, I've got to book for the Canberra trip. Money money money. [:o)]

What happened??? hopefully only a scatch scortfreak, if that
2005/06/10 21:29:05
scortfreak
Yeah, it's a scratch, A FARKING BIG ONE ON TOP OF A DENT. [8~2]

Well ok, it's not that bad, but's in the worst possible spot.
I was pushing it in so it doesn't have cats scratching and jumping on it in the night, and how ironic, I scratch it myself.
I thought there was room in my half-garage next to the project car, and when the green one was almost in, SCRAPE, goodbye money.
Guess the project doesn't like his new room mate.
I should be able to just take it into work and fix it there, though there's a slight dent I'm worried about. Might have some problems getting it to pop back out.

I was going to take it into work and fix up a few things anyway, guess I have to now.
Needless to say I'm pretty pissed since it only just got here, but I'll get over it in a few days. Until then. [:(!]

I'll post pictures up in a minute. You can all point and laugh. [V]

By myself, no one ever wants to help, yet I bet I'll be getting b!tched at this time tomorrow over it by them. [B)]

Had a similar problem when the yellow one first arrived too. I had it park almost in the same spot, when the project's handbrake decided to stop working, and rolled into the yellow ones door. Polished out though, not so lucky this time.

I'm over it already.
Hopefully I'll take it in to work soon and get it all looking perfect.

I rang around to get quotes on the engine swap, found a pretty cheap place, but they take two weeks. Looks like I'll go with them anyway to avoid anymore problems, though I'm a bit worried about leaving both my cars at a workshop for that long.

If only I knew how to wire it all up I could do it myself. [B)]

Speedway Grun (german) is a Porsche colour... ive used it on some engine components. Might have the code somewhere... I will have a look around.

Cheers Sean. Ty, I'm actually thinking of giving it a respray because of a few little parts where it's starting to flake, along with the roof looking pretty rough. But the main reason I bought it was to have something to drive, so maybe after I've had it going for a while I'll pull it apart and get it all perfect.

Engine swap is going ahead. Will hopefully order the superlites tomorrow, if not Sunday. Then once it's all running nice I'll take it into work and fix up some bits on the body. Hopefully all in time for the Canberra meet, fingers crossed.

The EH got registered on Wednesday, finally! Took a quick photo the other day while it was out. It's since got the rego plates (EH-001) and chrome peep mirrors, so I'll get a newer picture ASAP.

Removed the roll cage. Still not sure whether I'll clean it up and bolt it in, or leave it out.
Changed my mind, again. [:o)] Yellow car is going in tomorrow to have the engine removed, green one shortly after to have it put in. Really didn't want to stuff around myself as I realised how close the Canberra meet is.

Anyone have a rough idea how long it will take me to get my superlites? Or does it depend on the shop who gets them in?

Superlite's aren't my favorite rims either, though you just can't beat the price. And they look great on Eskies.
Geoff, how much were they through Highway Tyres? Is that the shop on Nepean Highway?

I don't know what the 16's would look like on the green one, does anyone have pictures of them on a MK1?
I'll bother getting the tyres and everything for the 16's if they're that much better, as I was thinking of them on the black car when it's done.
Only real reason I was going for the 15's was I know they looked good on it, and I've already got tyres. But whatever, might as well waste my money on something useful.

superlights are a good period wheel. if you cant afford minilites you go for the copies! they are good strong cheap wheels that look right. if i could get a set of genuine rs alloys for a mk1 i would have them. but they are too expensive and too hard to get. the 13x7 rebels look good, but again really hard to get. i have had 3 sets of superlights on my current car, starting with 15x8, then 13x7 now 13x6...says something there doesnt it...

as you might have guessed i like the style of the wheels which are from the time of the car. not overly keen on current look bling type wheels on early cars. but sometimes it does look good.

a set of revolutions would be nice too. i have two already for my car but need to get another pair. think if i want them on the car i will have to get them from the uk.

yeah they are on the sapphire now.. yes you should be able to get the 17s on with low profile tyre.. or just have the spare rims when you get done... its highly unlikely that you get done for your rims being too big thats rediculas i think
2005/10/13 16:23:42
scortfreak
I'm going to ring Vicroads and check. I'm sure it's 2" total including the tyre, so I could have 17's with low profiles. But I've heard of heaps of people getting done for having bigger rims with the same total size as stock. Otherwise I might get the Simmons even sooner and use them on the green one until the black one is ready.
2005/10/13 16:47:58

Cops these days will try every thing to bust you if your young. Well they do around here any way. But if you have some spare 13's just put them on when you get caught.

superlites would look pretty good on your car scortfreak.

here's a 4dr mk1 that is in hot4s that look similar to yours (sorta).

That 4dr is a little bright.

I'm 100% on the 15x7 10 spoke Superlites now. Went to Sandown for a Chev show, and somehow managed to find the rsocvic and ffcc track day. Hmm.
Anyway, there was a nice Capri there with the Superlites, and I spent ages just staring at them, look awesome. So I'll put the order in tomorrow, won't be ready in time for Canberra though.

If the guy who's doing the engine is on time, the green one will be leaving Tuesday, and hopefully back within the next week or so. I might be cutting it a bit fine. [B)]
Oh well, I'm back off into the shed to sit and stare at it some more.

Scortfreak...

John cutler built the car himself in that same yard the picture has been taken...

he bought it as a bare shell in primer.. they did some extra body work and got it looking like it is... his father is a spray painter and sprayed the car in that yard too so as you can see its a pretty good job. considering the paint is getting old, and also there is only 2 coats of paint on the car!!!

John sold the car to that fella off cardomain who had problems with it apparently. i think you said his name was fred?? Fred had the car for about 2 or 3 months apparently not sure and then sold it to my friend who loves his v8's he bought the escort as a runabout for work but got sick of the lack of power. (worked pinto???) and i grabbed the car off him!! thats the story to date now you have it!!! john had is at the fast fours jamboree in 2002 or 3?? cant remeber which one...

Went and had a look at the progress today. He's decided to weld some pieces into the front end since they've been cut out and he doesn't think it's strong enough. He's also making a part for the gearbox so it fits better. I'm actually thinking about putting it all on hold and just bringing the yellow one up to Canberra. Should know by Friday what's happening. [xx(]
Anyway, he's taken a look at the engine and reckons it's good for around 145hp. Should be even better once I get it back and throw some money at it.

Whats wrong with the front scortfreak??? what you mean not strong enough?? i never took out any suporting brakets??? just the area for the original radiator?????

I'm not actually sure what the guy's referring to, I think it's just the radiator support panel.
I'm going to leave the green one with him for a while so he can set it all up, and bring the yellow one to Canberra instead. So that was a big waste of time. [:p]
Hopefully by the time I'm back the swap will be all ready to go.

Took it out for a spin today (literally) and got some photos while I was at it. I'm re-sizing them and putting them on my site at the moment, should be done soon.

Also, if anyone wants any photos taken of their cars up at the Canberra meet let me know so I know how many memory cards to take. [:x)]

They're Cibie's. Came with the car so I don't know how much they cost, but I've seen sets on eBay go for up to $1k[:u].

Mmmm maybe they are not correctly fitted? Coz have you seen Police patrol cars? they have those uni bars with spotties on the front, my dad had a big spotties on the front of his EF and AU no troubles, but i think the Cage is your main problem. I am interested to why you got knocked back on them.

Ty, the problem with the diff was the nuts holding the wheels on were the wrong type, needed a set of the longer ones. It had made the studs loose as well, so that's all sorted now.
Have to take the spacers off for rego too, so I'll just bolt the 14's on until the 15" superlites get here.

Getting fed up with the guy who's meant to be doing my engine swap. So far he's screwed with the rear end, broken my exhaust and almost threw it out, left heaps of dents and scratches on the body, and removed some of my seals then put them back in really loose. Oh well. I'll give him one more chance then I'll try my luck doing it at home (unless anyone can reccommend someone in Melbourne?), he seems to be creating more problems than he's fixing. [B)][xx(]

Well the exhaust is f*&ked! Thought it was only going to be a slight bend and I could bend it back into shape, but it's literally bent 90 degrees.

How the f*&k did he manage to do that!? [:x)][:o)]

Anyway, once the engine goes in the car will be back off to my work for some bodywork.

So far the to-do list is:
Shave door locks
Shave boot badge
Fix the areas where the sun has started peeling the paint
Fix the dent on the passenger r/q
Few little chips, etc

Should be fun. Really enjoyed taking it and working on it on Wednesday. I get to make it how I want it, which makes me feel more like it's my car. Which probably sounds stupid, haha.

Scortfreak.....firstly, would just like to say. Nice Mk1. Secondly what exactly is your mechanic doing to it? A motor swap with your yellow one was the bit I got but what else. Why the radiator support and the bent exhaust? Why the wheelnuts and spacers.??

2005/11/18 21:26:49
scortfreak
Craig, to be honest... No idea. [:p]

The radiator support I can understand, as it will probably help me pass rego. But not anything else.

The exhaust, I was told, got bent when he was trying to load it onto a trailer. The car was too low (it's only 2" lower than stock), so they tried to remove it, and that's about as much as I know. I don't know how he bent it that much. [B)]

Might give him one last chance, then I'll just do the work myself. Now I can understand what Fehlbie's going through, we're paying people to do nothing, and in my case break stuff! [xx(]

just go off my signature, i wasn't joking. Mine is all sorted now, new plugs go in tomo and put the interior back in and she's all sweet. I am still going to sell it though, its time for a change. I just wanted to replace all the hings that were not perfect before, that way i have peice of mind to sell it.[8~2] I'm also toying with the idea of splitting the running gear and selling it as a conversion package and the car as a rolling shell with brakes interior cage ect ect... will wait and see what comes of advertising it together.

Still i have mixed feeling so much work to sell, so much money to lose, sooooooooo much fun to drive[:u]

I could probably do the work if we had a proper ground. Pretty hard working on a dirt/stone driveway, though it's fun to do skids on . Hopefully not too long and I can finish the carport off, and make it into a proper garage, then I can do it all myself.

OMGWTFBBQ, etc. I can't believe I missed all this....

I hate these stories. I have had my fair share of trauma over car work too. Even with the few things I do bother trying to outsource.

Others have mentioned it, and I will add my voice to theirs, The place is a clown factory mate. Don't even take it back there unless you need to. Its not too much to ask that a workshop get on with the work you paid them to do, without damaging things.... That pipe is rediculous, and the excuse is even more pathetic. The whole prospect of mystery panel damage is just scary.

All I can say is I so very badly regret giving the last place I trusted with my car "1 last chance" Cut your losses, it can get much worse.[:(!][:(!][:(!]

Damion, still haven't found it sorry. I might have left it at the mechanics, I'll ask him and get back to you if you still need it.

Anyway, I'm thinking about taking it out drag racing once the engine goes in.
What wheels would I be best using? At the moment I have a set of 15x7 Sapphire wheels, with pretty new rubber, really wide. Should I use these on the back and say some 13's on the front? (i'm guessing they'd be a bit lighter than 15's?)
Engine should go in in the next week or two (hopefully[B)]), then it's straight in for a tune, and off to Calder on the next Friday. Hopefully the diff can handle launching, that's what stopped me from taking the yellow car. [xx(]

Yeah, Marks car is bloody nice. Hopefully the green one will be ready for Small Ford Sunday and we can all go cruising.

Went and priced up some Sparco's today, talk about pricey. $1100/seat, so that might have to wait a while. Hah. Found a really nice steering wheel though, so I'll go back and buy that along with a set of pedals and some roll cage padding. [B)]

I've just been playing around lately really, all the boring little bits. Put the back half of the roll cage back in, not sure if I'll put the front in at this stage. And started mounting my harness, need racing seats first though, so I'm just wasting time really. [:p]

I tried my circle headlight grille on just for ideas, I think I prefer the rectangles. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Ty, I'm going to try. Depends if the budget will allow it, which seems to be everyone's problem! [:x)]
I was thinking of putting a Cossie head on my current pinto if I can do it reasonably cheap. And I love how it looked with the green cover on the cossie, so I thought it would be easier to get that from you than do it myself.

Rhys, I'm thinking about it. I reckon they'll look more in place once the superlites go on. I'm trying not to spend any money on it before it's running, which is hard.

Hopefully I'll go up to Swires today and see if he can do me a deal on swapping the engine. I'm sick of waiting! [B)]

I've been having a little toy around with photoshop tonight. I'm starting to like gold simmons. Green and gold escort!
Anyway, I've been planning on putting FR17's on the project, so I figure why waste money on another set of wheels for the green car when I can use the Simmons on this until the project is done?
I'm about half way towards the money I need to get Simmons, bloody expensive things they are! [B)] If anyone knows of any second hand ones let me know. [:p]

Anyway here's a chop with the gold ones on it. I quite like it, though I don't think I'm game enough to actually buy gold ones. Can't go wrong with silver. [:p] Wonder if it's possible to get them resprayed and how much, I'll have to go back down to the simmons place and find out.

Haha. Still deciding on what to do.
I need someone to take the yellow car off my hands (hint hint) either as a rolling shell or complete. I'd love to keep the engine, but I think it will be too hard to sell without it. [xx(]

Wheels are pretty low on my list. Need to get the bloody car driving before I can worry about all that hey. [:p]

Some good news though, I took the yellow car for a little spin around the street today. I thought I might have blown something, which would explain why it was running so hot up in Canberra, seemed fine though so that's good.

I'm lucky both my cars were under cover. We had a decent hail-storm last night. [:u]

looking good so far.

the wiring is the hardest bit... lucy for you its all there and its not EFI!!!!

basically all you need to do is wire the started and the coil and make sure the fuel lines are hooked up and your engine will run!

the other wires are not important at this stage!! you want the engien running first then get to the rest!!

I was always going to have someone else do the wiring and gearbox swap. We went and talked to them it cost no extra to have the engine installed too. So I thought it would be better to let them handle it. [:p]

Don't worry though, I didn't give up completely. I have a plan for my project car, which if goes ahead, will involve me rebuilding and installing my own engine. At least I can take my time with that car. [:x)]

I have the interior out of the purple car ready to go in. Still not sure though. I'd love to have a back seat, and the front seats are awesome and pretty comfy. But the interior in there now is simple, suits the car, and fits me perfect.

One thing about swapping diffs. Will I need a custom driveshaft made up? I'm swapping the diff in there now (think it's stock, not sure) for a Borg Warner LSD.

Car now has a back seat. Was going to swap the front ones so I can actually tilt them forward but the mounts are welded in. So passengers will have to settle for climbing over them. [:p]

I've been going around practicing my launching, so there's black marks everywhere. [B)] Booking it in to get dynoed hopefully this weekend, then fix a few suspension bits and off to Calder to drag it.

Heading off tomorrow to get some gauge pods, not sure how they'll look on it, wanted to do it for ages. Now that I've gone through the whole rego thing I've got no excuse not to. [:p]
Few more little things I'm looking at buying, not sure how much money I have to spend though, eh. Just trying to do as much as I can before I pull it off the road and swap the new front and rear ends into it.

Ty, had to take the cage out to go through roadworthy, haven't got around to putting it back in. I'll do it soon. [:p]

Yeah, I loved the superlites I had on there, but they were too thin. Makes it look a lot tougher from behind with these on there.

Still not sure what I'm going do to with the purple car. I know I'm going to swap over the diff and front end with the green car. Then I'll either sell it as is, or clean it up a bit, put an engine in then sell it completed.

Oh, and I'll take some more pictures for you soon. I only have the Simmons on one side, because there's a lock nut on the purple car so I have to find a way to get the others off. [B)]
And I'm having a problem with the green car. Really bad shake in the steering. Went up around a month ago to have it aligned, and the guy said that the steering arms and ball joints are going to need to be replaced. He tightened them up there, and it was right for a few weeks, was really bad the last time I drove it though, so I've got to check that out too. Argh. [xx(]
Oh well, it's almost finished.

yer, it had a 2lt pinto with a 5speed celica gearbox and had the airfilter hanging out the bonnet, also had 4 VDO gauges with 3 toggle switches in the middle, had a autometer 4inch tacho also the boot was done and yer some more stuff. But with the gearbox that was in it, it went through so many throw out bearings it's not funny.

he whish he still had it cause he reckone's it would have a 13bt in it, and i also whish he still had it cause i loved the thing just as much.

Yeah, I liked the superlites on there, weren't wide enough though. I might save up for a set of 15x7s, not sure.

Haven't really done much with the purple one. I was hoping to keep it as a project car, but the green one ended up costing more than I expected to get running, so I've got to sell the purple one as a shell. I've got a couple more things to swap around, then I'll probably put it up on here.

Ty, that seat is barely even in there. I need to get some new mounts made up before it will sit properly. And the bolt is threaded on the inside, so I can't even put the old seat back in. [B)]

Also, one of the tyres keeps going completely flat overnight. I'm hoping I've just ran something over and punctured it. Have a feeling the inside of the tyre might be rubbing the wheel tubs though, which is just about the last thing I need. [:(!]

The rundown:
Had the diff all in working, or so I thought, drove it around a fair bit and it was making a weird wobble. Thought the wheels might have been loose or something, but when I was tightning it the rear drivers side one wasn't on properly. You had to go in on an angle to tighten it, and the wheel brace wouldn't fit inside the holes (thinking back on it, I probably should have given up there and taken it to a wheel shop).

Anyway, fast forward to Saturday night. We decide to take the Escort for a run down to the pizza shop. Make it about 1km, when the shake is really bad, decide to turn around and come home. Around 200m from my house, there's a huge thud. I get out, and one of the wheel studs has snapped off. I attempt to limp the car home really slow, I make it to the end of my street, when there's another loud thud. The car only had 3 studs on it originally, and is now left with 1. Had to get the RACV to come and tow the bloody thing up to my driveway. [B)]

Then yesterday I got it towed up to my usual wheel guys to get them to check it out, thinking I'd be up for a new set of studs and it'd all be good to go for the RSOCVIC cruise this Sunday. Hah, wrong. Got a call today saying that the reason the studs snapped is the diff is using spacers or something, which managed to bend them out of shape and snap them. That, and there's a problem with the front end. I asked my mechanic to change the front brakes, and he swapped the entire front end. So now I have to get my purple shell back from him, and get my other front end swapped in, which I only bought a few weeks ago. Oh, did I mention I need a new centre for one of my Simmons, since the studs have ruined the holes?

So yeah, now I'm up for a heap of money to pay for getting the diff installed, a heap of money to get these guys to fix it, more to get my original front end put back in, plus whatever it costs for the new centrepiece. Also, to top it all off, I found out I can't get a lift into the RSOC cruise.

... I hate Escorts. [:-(]

As far as I know, it was just a standard diff. I've got a borg warner LSD sitting here, but it needs some mods to fit properly. Guess it's time to put her in properly.

Nah, it's in a bunch of factories in Moorabbin. Not sure of the name.

I'm thinking of just sticking a standard one in there and locking it. But it's embarrassing doing one-wheelers, and I'd like to be able to thrash it without having to worry about blowing it up again. [:p]
2006/11/20 15:16:44
nigel mk1
I just chucked out a locked 3.9 centre in the hard rubbish collection a few weeks back, would have saved you having to weld it up. Ive had a locked centre and axles last almost a year with a fairly stock pinto, and 205 nankangs, with lots of enthusiastic driving. Most linelocks were done in the wet though.

Most axles after that lasted 2 to 3 months each however. Is your borgwarner LSD, if so it might be worthwhile sticking it in. If not re-co borgie lsd centres are around the $500 mark, which makes a locked escort diff seem alot more promising.
2006/11/20 15:40:58
scortfreak
Would it be possible to lock this one, or does it depend on how bad I've busted it? Otherwise will I have to chuck a whole new diff in, or can I just swap the centerpiece?

One last question (I know sh*t-all about diffs [:I])... How does a locked one cope with daily driving? Will I get that bouncing whatnot going around corners, or what?
2006/11/20 16:55:15
nigel mk1
bouncing and skipping yes! but this is only really noticable under 20kph. above that you wont notice it. When parking at shopping centres you will get alot of attention also. Not the best for a daily driver, but i would rather a locker than single spin any day. I would not run anything over a 205 tyre -> more grip = more strain on poor esky axles

Have you blown your current centre, or have you just snapped an axle? Do you get any forward movement when in gear? If you just snapped a twig, you can pull your centre out and weld up the spider gears, and stick another axle in it. If you have blown the centre you will no about it when you pull it out.

Either way your gona have to pull out the axles and centre. Just follow a haynes manual and its a piece of cake!

Tip: Stick some headbolts or metal plate into the spider gears before you weld it up for some strength.
2006/11/20 23:08:28
scortfreak
I can still drive it, barely though. I managed to drive it about 200m from where it broke to a friends house, but lost all movement after that. Just tried again a few hours ago, and managed to move it around my driveway, but it's making huge clunking noises, and the gears come and go (only has second sometimes).

I dunno, I'm tempted to just send it off somewhere and get it fixed properly. But on the other hand I wouldn't mind pulling it off the road for a while and fixing everything myself.
2006/11/20 23:15:00
nigel mk1
If your gears come and go i would say youve blown the box? Jack it up, stick it in neutral and turn the back tyres, see if the tailshaft spins?

Replacing a snapped axle was one of the first of a long line of things i had to replace in my esky, but it gave me confidence etc to tackle any problem that came to hand. If youve got the time, patience give it a go yourself, and if you fail, then take it to a mechanic. thats only my personal opinion though.
2006/11/20 23:24:09
scortfreak
Ah great, that sounds expensive. [xx(]

I had a friend look under the car while I drove slowly, and he said the diff was 'bumping around' when it clunked. Guessing that could also be caused by the gearbox playing up though?
2006/11/20 23:38:52
johnfw
It might pay to do some research into how a CWP differencial works. You will find that the gears have a very small meshing footprint. If you wish to apply full power to the rear wheels prior to the vehicle being in motion then something will give, likely as not your wallet. I just don't get it, and you will naturally say age is the difference, hard earned bikkies left as rubber in front of someones property, HELLO. I like speed and going fast round corners near the limit of adhesion but leaving hard earned on the road never.

Do some research then slowly slowly, you will be guranteed to learn the easy way. I feel sorry for your missfortunes and only hope for your fathers sake he doesn't pay the bills.

Blake,
I reckon its your diff. I once did my diff near home and it was making the rear end seem as though it was jumping round as i crept it home because so many chunks were floating round in the centre. Somehow though and to my suprise I got it all the way home with a big bang at the top of the driveway- which I just assumed was its final death. Then I changed it. Pretty easy to do. Can get it out in 30mins by your self once youve done it a few times. Saves paying someone, more money for other things.

I still have first gear. Although when I was limping it back from where I blew it up, I went through all the gears to see what else I had, and the speedo was moving.

If they're both English axles then it will go in - no such thing as a 1600 and 2 litre diff, just different ratios. Just double check the size of the prop shaft mounting flange as I've been caught out by that before... [V]

According to WA laws, (as my police officer friend has said) under car/hidden lights are legal as long as they meet the following specs..

1. The light source cannot be visible.
2. They remain constantly lit.
3. Any lights at the front of the vehicle cannot be blue.
4. The vehicle must remain stationary when they lights are on, that is the lights cannot be on when the car is moving.

Other than that... [(#)]

Any reason you get pulled over a lot?? or are they just targetting P platers again. [88]

Theres a defference between built and bought, go to your first post and see the pics when you bought it, thats a finished car. To get it to that stage requires a LOT of time and effort. Do a build like that and you might realise.
Also if you spend the time working on the car to fix it and not send it off to the shop to get fixed all the time you might see why thrashing a car constantly is not a good idea.
Keep spending your money you will never learn...

[88][88][88] Good luck getting 14k for it now, no one will buy it after there is movies on youtube of it getting the poo poo flogged out of it.

Considering I drive it sensible when I'm on the road (minus industrial areas, obviously), they're quite clearly targetting P platers. I can drive it around all day on my Ls and not get a second glance from the cops, yet the second my mate puts his Ps in it and goes for a drive, they're all over it.

Haha, you quite clearly know nothing. You do realise it had no engine in it when I bought it, right? You do realise I've changed the brakes, diff, interior, etc. since buying it, right? You do realise I've had to get new panels welded in and respray them to get a roadworthy, right? It was hardly a finished car when I bought it, I'd really like to see you try driving around in a car with no engine.

And I'm rebuilding one from the ground up as we speak, so I know what goes into it. Again, might want to do some research before you make comments like that.

Since when did I send it off to shops every time I've broken it? I've sent it off maybe 3-4 times to get things fixed. It's kinda hard to shorten a driveshaft in my back yard. And I'd also like to know why you figure I thrash it 'constantly'? It gets thrashed maybe 1/10th of the time it's being driven, at the most. I'd like to see you find one Escort on this forum that hasn't been thrashed before. And thanks for the offer, I will keep spending my money on it. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather drive my car how I want to drive it, and occasionally fix things on it, rather than leave it locked up at home only to come out for a cruise every second Sunday.

Going by your logic, no one's going to buy a track car because it's been flogged. Nice one. Here's a good idea; stop worrying about what other people are doing with their cars, and focus on getting your own finished.

ladies please put your blouses on some people have to spend more than others to get there car to certain levels to satisfy their wants SOME don't 14k is a lot to spend on a scort but condsidering i offered ty 14k to buy it back with the cossie in it i have to agree THAT would be a good deal not one without that motor, and anyways i could build it again for 7 i did the first time its not hard you always have to keep in your head if i f**k up their is always someone else qualified to fix it

Why would anyone be so stupid as to post pictures of themselves doing burnouts on a popular forum then wonder why they get pinged. I know of at least three Victoria Police Officers who are members on this forum. let's see if you get another notice in relation to the blue car. I hope the hoon laws in Victoria don't extend to crushing cars. I'd hate to see the demise of the Escort. Could'nt give a toss about the other car.

i think he would have to do more then just blur his face and number plates, he would have 2 photoshop it and change everything on it cause its not like every one would have a bright green 2dr escort(with P-plates)to drive around in, it stands out like crazy.

atleast you have found out what commodores are only good for, so you've done the right thing there

The carpark looked like private property, so wouldn't they have to prove you were on public land or have the land owner complain (which would mean they'd have to identify where it was)?

Anyway glad you've got something else to ruin doing burnouts rather than th esky [:p][:x)][:x)]

Some people arn't getting the point. Carpark, back street, industrial area, smugged image, it don't matter. He has been effectivelly defected for the vehicle, when its up to vehicle inspections the vehicle will be given a too stringent test procedure, won't be worth the bother ESKIE is finished in your name.

PS better keep the CommodeDoor hidden they are on your case. Better stick to a pushy till you get some whiskers on the chin.
