running problems

2-3 miles would be the time it takes the engine to warm up. I would check your tappet settings - WARM - and redjust.

The standard fuel pump should keep up just check the fule line diameter on standard 105 Anglia compared to MK1 Escort/cortina as the line may not be carrying fuel, you may need to go 1 size up on the hose.

Condensor on the points, change it for a new one. People forget about this little yet critical part of the ignition system.

Earth. Old UK Fords LOVE earth. Make sure you earth the battery to the engine and the body (I add an additional earth at the back of the block to the firewall)

Idle adjustment is slightly hidden. Look at the throttle link at the base of the carb. Directly above it are two protusions. The top one has a large obvoius screw-this is NOT the idle. Look around toward the front of the carb and a screw will come into view just below the bit you were jist looking at. This is the idle screw - it has a spring around it.

Fuel filter, if it has one could be fine for a while but when fuel pressure gets up could disturb the sediment causing starvation....also check needle and seat in carby..
