the wonders of a CUT & POLISH (pics)

had a customer today with one of the worst cars ive ever seen...

now ive come across many cars in this condition, but they are usually abused family sedans or wagons, not a sports car!

the owner used to love this car, but grew out of it, and the car sat for 4 years, only got driven once or twice on a unregistered permit,

when it was in its "prime" it has 17" mags, piggyback ecu thingo, and dual stage boost controller? or something. but yeah, heres the before and after pics!

the sun had gone down a bit when i was finished to my dissapointment, but you can still see the final product..

Wow! Was that hand cut or with a electric buffer ? Also just regular polish or did you use the pigmented polish ?

Cheers,

Mark

Looking good Sterling,

Not too sure about shutting the power cord in the bonnet though[88]

youll never get paint to come up that well by hand, hand cuts are more for small scratches or marks, i do very little by hand,

i ran some fine cutters in a coarse foam pad, in the electric buff over the paint, and really put some effort into it, then ran over again with swirl remover and a fine/weak pad

(has to be done VERY thoroughly) gave the car a wash,

(to clean everything i didn't buff, and to remove the cutters from panel edges, indicators, rubbers etc)

then shamoi'd off and finished with a hand polish,

the owner actually thought what i had done was temporary, and when i said "next time it gets dirty, then its washed, it will still look this good" he was shocked!

haha yeah since it was sitting so long it had a dead battery, there was a power bar under the bonnet giving me power too, i was a bit worried the panel would cut into the cord, but hey hes the one who shut it not me, lol
