wat car to drive

i live in shellharbour and drive to maroubra everyday for work..
its about 100kms and takes me a good 2 hrs sometimes...
im in the car for about 4 hrs a day and my ass gets sore as lol...
i have a charade with 260 on the clock and its gettin a lill worse for wear... blowing smoke or what not..
i was ganna rebuild it but its still a charade and being a 1.3 im always dropping back gears and its givin me the poo poos.. i just wanna go up a hill and not have to worry about changing gears...

i didn't wanna spend more than 8k
maybe a 33 skyline?? 180sx?? nissan pulsar or a commodore on gass... or even a newer charade with a 1.5 in it.. somthin like that...
it needs to be good on fuel and reliable... i was going to go for a jap car because of a huge range of parts and after market bits...incase somthing broke...

let me now what u recon

just get a falcon on gas.
you can pick up a decent ef/el/au for less than 5k

im a bit confused with what you're after.. r33 and charade in the same line?
kinda sounds like you want something with power, but then economy.

a falcon would be good for cruising and towing, and still make good power if you want it.

dont get an AU1, there not the best quality wise, you can get a good AU2 for under $8000, just have to shop around.

you can even get a BA for around $8000 if its done a few K's or whatever.

but if your sitting in a car for 4 hours a day, and hate changing gears. then you need something german.. idealy.. thats what they're designed for.

ie mercedes or bmw.. but look at it this way, if you buy a bmw or merc for under $8000 odds are its not going to be overly reliable.

and i know what u mean about getting sore.. if i drive mums rodeo for more than an hour my ass/back is killing me!

My suggestion would be to move to Maroubra. Driving that long each day doesn't sound like fun in any car. Get somewhere within walking distance of work and spend all the money you save on fuel on the Escort. You'll get more free time to work on the car too.

I recently got an AUII Futura Wagon, mainly to carry my r/c car gear, for $7400 with 146,000kms on the clock. Auto as well.

At the end of the day you'd probably want something that's auto with a bit torque.

go for a latest model factory dedicated gas falcon wagon you can afford. My last 2 company cars have been these, cheap to run & maintain, tow the rally car really well..

just a tip from someone who has been there before....get a stock standard daily driver, make it look nice (wheels etc), as soon as you get a 'toy' car that there are mnay cheap 'spares' you end up another project

im not a fan of the huge falcons or Holdens hey i was ganna stick to somthing smaller....

Avon
A <10yr old Corolla.

Never ever break down, stuff all $ to run, 1.8 engine is not going to give you whiplash but goes alright, very good chassis and brakes. Cheap tyre sizes available. Good resale.

Sounds like you want to drive a 'toy' to work and not a daily.
I would go with a falcon on gas with the distances you travel. The falcon auto or man will be fine with hills.

Personal experience: I got a KCII TX3 laser for my daily. Its not xr6 or turbo fast but its good enough to get to uni. Does under 10L per 100km... I think its about 8.something but my od is out so not exact... lil 1.6 injected 5speed man. She does a trip from Bendigo to Albury every two weeks and doesnt faze her at all.

I have an LS Focus (manual), I love it pleanty of space, more grunt than my old ED falcon (Auto) & heaps better on fuel) even the older 2L LR focus is good bang for buck. if you want something cheaper.

Running min 95 ron i get about 7.3 around town & about 6.3 (sometimes 5.7/8)on the highway. if you get an auto they use heaps more fuel.

So you want a cheap daily, that will still eat taxi's?

The new Nissan Micra's, are the boy racers weapon of choice.
A 1992-5 Suzuki Swift is my pick, if your after something cheap.

You can import a Nissan wagon from Japan? for about 15k landed.
8 seater with Two TVs with local station reception.
The 350z engine could be thirsty with the extra weight.
