yellow rs

this is my escort.. its a 1980 4 door rs2000.
it has a kent fr32 cam, extractors, straight through exhaust, ebc greenstuff brake pads and a delco fuel injection system..
the bodywork was done by the previous owner, who had it stripped back to bare metal, an then sprayed with 2 pac..
inside i have a kenwood head unit, 6 inch component speakers in the front and 6x9's in boxes on the parcel shelf.
apart from that its fairly standard..
the pic is fairly bad, i'll take a better one once we get some sun

Looks nice! Very tidy.

The pic looks fine to me!? Then again, I am in Melbourne - is a little cloud cover considered to be "poor light" in WA?!

simon the pic is ok.. just doen't look quite the same as it does in the flesh..

That is one neat looking RS

On a side note... how much iron do you guys have in the soil over there? Those houses in the background have got some serious amounts of iron leeching up the walls [:u]... or is there some other phenomenon over there which I don't know about?

sean,

i can't believe you noticed that! we have quite a bit of water underground so we all use bores for our retic.. the suburb i'm in has a sort of basin made of iron rich rock underground where the water gathers.. the result is the underground water has tonnes of iron in it.. and so when we pump it up it stains everything the srinklers spray!
i don't think its so bad in other areas around perth.. its a bit of a pain really as it doesn't come off too easily..

Does this mean your cars stick to the road better due to some sort of magnetic effect [?]
2004/08/27 01:31:51
The Other Half
Yeah the stains are from bore water. All over the west coast, from Albany all the way up through Mandurah to at least that place north of perth starting with K if i can recall. A bit of left over sulfuric acid does the trick! Not good for the lawn though! [8~2]
Anyway nice looking scort complete with original mags too! Say, how do you find the FR 32 cam, is it too lumpy for a daily drive, is it tracitable? Got any more piccies of the engine bay?

Cheers all
2004/08/27 10:01:56
Andrew
yeah i went back to the original mags.. the previous owner had 13 inch dragway mags on with 205's on the front and 235's on the back.. i thought they looked stupid.. eventually i'd like 14 inch minilites or similar..
the cam is great.. it idles a little more lumpy than usual but i think that sounds cool.. i think its fine for a daily driver.. it still produces pleanty of torque in the lower revs..
yeah i'll get some engine bay pics asap..

Andrew
heres a pic of the engine bay.. it looks really full with the fuel injection gear.. i might actually re route all the pipes to tidy it up..
the injection is a camira/sierra setup, and the iac thingy has been moved onto the side of the manifold as it hit the bonnet.. i may actually scrap the iac altogether..

nice looking car Andrew. Love the colour...but I am biased. whereabouts in Perth are you? I have a mate with a white RS and another with a Mk1 RS (original). Do you get into any of the sporting events?
2004/08/09 00:02:03
Andrew
i'm in rossmoyne
no i haven't got into any events yet.. although i'm looking to join a car club soon but i'm undecided on which one.. i was thinking the ford rallye sport club..

there is an autokhana on sunday at the belmont racecourse carpark, near burswood. it will be the first time for me but it is supposed to be a lot of fun. i am also going to Collie in september for the VSCC racing on the track there. i am not in any clubs either...used to be in the tickford club but am thinking of the ACE Ford club. they do a lot of cruises etc and cater for all fords, not just the V8s.

the autokhana is on at belmont racecourse. if you go across the farmer freeway out of town towards burswood, go across the bridge and you approach the exit to get into the casino the back way. take that exit and it is on the left. i believe it is on at 9am, but as it is my first time, i will be heading down there about 8am to register. i believe that the car just has to be mechanically sound. some more info here...

http://www.actionalarms.com.au/Motorsport/

hope to see you there. i am in a VERY yellow RS.

thanks hotscort
rhys heres a couple from the engine bay, they show the side views.. the ignition module is on top of the strut as it was too near the coil before and was getting interfearance.. it was a temporary fix that has become perminant..
You can also see the IAC on the rocker cover side of the manifold, it was originally on the top of the throttle body but had to be moved as it hits the bonnet..
is there anything specific you want pics of?

do you have any running probs with it? are you using a different cam?

nup it wasn't confusing at all one i knew what was what on the loom, and i did that before even starting on the car..
i am using a standard cam, it seems fine, its been going about a year with no major dramas..

Is that rear spoiler rubber or fiberglass? From the pic it looks rubber but from a comment you made before i asumed you had fiberglass.

Looks good any way. Really suits your car.
2005/08/12 14:04:49
Andrew
yeah its from race tune, it may have been painted i don't know.. did you get a fibreglass cover for yours too?
2005/08/12 14:15:37
Joshua
Yep, oh hang on. what do you mean?
2005/08/12 14:40:28
Joshua
If you mean a fiberglass covering over the old spoiler, then No.
2005/08/12 14:42:43
Andrew
yeah, thats what i mean.. its just a gloss black fibreglass shell over a regular rubber spoiler.. it came from racetune i think..
I like it, it means everything on the car is gloss black, no matt
2005/08/12 14:53:19
Joshua
mine is just the fiberglass shell. Means i have to slastic (or something like it) it on, but that means, no holes in boot and doesn't get rusty under the spoiler.

Good stuff Andrew. How do they look when flashing? Are they orange or are they not as noticable now? Did they come supplied with tinted globes.

Yeah they flash orange, the bulbs themselves are orange but i put a bit of foil over the front of the bulb so i don't have to see any orange [}:)] With the orange bulb only it made the whole housing look orange..

The foil actually made them light the rest of the light up better.. I'll try and get a pic..

Mr Mk2
Hey Andrew and Rhys

In reponse to your blinker lights. I have clear lenses at the front with orange bulbs. They are very very bright. For example at night the blinkers will actually light up a massive amount of in front of the car and also give a little light show. They shoot multiple beams of orange light i.e. !.!.!.!.!.! in a arch that can be clearly seen on the ground. ok i sound like an idiot explaining this so i will stop but it looks awesome and people notice. But i am unsure why or how it does it. My guess is the design of the lense? Anyway ... [^]

Just looking at the pic of your car in my XE lower lip post and was wondering has your car been clear coated?
It look like its got a decent shine on it and was just curious. I'm still not sure whether or not to clear coat mine when its done.

Heres a newer pic of the car, I meant to upload it ages ago but forgot. Its the one from Rhys's xe lip thread.

I got my koni adjustables this week, I've got the rears and one front in, going to finish the other front tomorrow morning. Even bouncing the car in the driveway the difference is obvious over the munroes, can't wait to drive it Plus its been lowered since that pic, but I can't find any pics..

Haha yeah I was wondering who would mention that.. Its on the list of things to do, but the coke bottle does a good job!!

Paul the car feels really good. There is more power available everywhere. It feels really torqey at low revs and pulls really well right off idle, then if you rev it out to 7000 it just takes of (with the roar of the exhaust and intake: magic!!)

There is no comparason to the pinto..
