*URGENT* You Can Help An Ozzy Classic Ford To Fame

Hey all, my membership has just disappeared from this forum as have all my posts??? Anyhow many of you guys would remember early in 2008 when I was lucky enough to have my ratter Mk1 Corty featured in Classic Ford Mag. RJ wrote an awesome article and the photographer took some incredible photo's and bob's ya mother's brother, the poo-housest looking Mk1 Cortina in Australia is on 6 pages of your favourite Ford mag.

Well, recently RJ let me know that my car had been submitted as one of the final 12 for car of the year for 2008. Now I know some of you just shake your heads and say "why"...... "what is wrong with society"....... but I say to you...... wouldn't it be great for the single Aussie car to make the top 12 to actually have a shot at taking the crown?

You are all able to help. All you have to do is spend a minute or so to send a quick email to the good people over at Classic Ford.

Send an email to classicford@futurenet.com

In the email all you have to do is say you want to vote for vehicle E or even just put that as your subject line and nothing else. "Car Of The Year - Vote Vehicle E" or something similar.

The catch is that entries close on Jan 16th so if you would like to see an Aussie car have a crack at winning this then please send your emails asap.

To those of you that do this for me I am very grateful. Would just be interesting to see if such a car has a shot against 11 shiny and fairly to massively modded cars. Mine is the only one with stock rims and hubcaps! Hehe.

Here is the link to the article about the competition. Entry details are at the bottom of the page.

Here's a reminder of the car:

That car A is bloody filthy. One of the nicest mk1s I've seen.

Still voted for car E though! I think the rat rod is a really cool car, really original idea and the period luggage on the roof rack is awesome.

Good Luck!!

Hehe.. I thought that would happen. I personally love the Zeph. He turned it into a coupe for god's sake. That's freakin awesome enough and he has also slotted 8 cylinders of the best in that big hole at the front. Crikey.

Anyway thanks for voting for my car even though Car A attracted your attention.

thanks so much to all you guys. We will wait and see now when they announce the winner. Actually there is still time to vote, since the UK is behind us we probably have up until midday tomorrow to send votes through if anyone else wants too. [:p]

I called the Editor and said that if the Rat didn't win we would systematically destroy all English sporting teams when they visited our shores.
He said I sounded pretty tough for a guy half way around the world.

Seriously, the Rat is a very unique car that more than deserved it's places in the hallowed pages of CF. Interestingly the Rat's look is very different to the other 11 cars....making the chances of a high finish/win pretty good.

Well done B and hope to see the Rat on the road some time this summer.

Cheers,

RJ

P.S. - Anyone else in Aust got a similar styled beast? Let me know[;^)]

Cheers mate. I reckon voting is all over now though.
Yeh the horn is funny. I wanted a genuine one from back in the day but those things cost the earth these days cos all the hotrod/ratrod boys around the world want them.

That Estate is my favourite Mk1 Corty in Australia. I dream of one day owning an Estate. I remember seeing photo's of that thing the first time it rolled into a show and I flipped out. At that point I don't think it had the bonnet scallops and that is the only thing I'm not sure if I like about it, but super cool car in my opinion.

Old topic resurrection.

Just for the fun of an update on this car......

I sold it! It was a sad sad day too. I had the car over 15 years and sold it about 1 month ago.

The good news is that the new owner intends to completely restore the car. I saw the car 4 days after he took posession of it and the boot and bonnet were already off and stripped ready for primer and the roof also had been prepared. I'm tipping by now the car is a fair way along.

So for me it was bitter sweet as it was sad to see the first car i ever bought driven off by a stranger, however I never would have got around to fixing it up the way it deserved.

Now it's onto bigger and better things for me.

Time to own something with a big block

...you buying a house on a large allotment of land?

Sorry to hear the Mk 1 has moved on, but am excitied to hear another page in your car ownership career is opening.

Any idea's on what is next? The 2.6L Astron in Sigma's was always referred too as the 'big block' of 4 cylinders[88].....amd I close?

Hehe..... I see what you did there. [:p]

Nah I'm talking 429 Cubic Inches of highway happiness. It's big... very big.... and it's from USA.

429 sounds fun any more clues on what it is?

I'm guessing either a Mustang or a Shelby

That's if I'm correct on assuming that 429ci big block is a Ford.

Hehe...... all nice thoughts and I like the idea of the brute horsepower, however think a little less traffic light demon and a little more luxo highway cruiser. Not only Ford had 429's......... so did Cadillac
