Nice, almost the perfect collection.

Improved production cars are looking more "improved" and less production every time I see them. [:p]

774scottc
Cheers Diablo69, yeah that race car is fun to drive.. As for the RS, it's going to take a little while.. Gotta finish the Capri.. Freshen the Spare motor for the race car.. I need 8 Days a week!!![:I]

Hey Jason, now I know which shaun we are taking about.. Infact I may be doing a little bit of sorting for him soon.. We were chatting the other week and he said he would like a little feed back on it..

Wishihadars1800, I'll keep my eye for you if ya give me a wave.. If I'm not in the Escort I'm in the GT-P..
2008/06/21 22:57:52
Scott
I've seen you few times over the past week on my way to and from TAFE.
Wishihadars1800 answered the question I was going to ask you, and now I know who it is if a ever get a wave from a GT-P.

Your mk1 is very nice, so is that Green mk2. It is going to be good to see another RS on the road.
2008/06/21 23:56:25
wishihadars1800
yeah i hope to get my mk2 rally pack all sprayed and togeather before september (get my ps) then hopefelly it should be on the road besides yours [;^)] thats such a nice mk1 race car also

774scottc
Scott, do you remember going to KFC on Glen Osmond Rd one day and some guy asked you if you wanted to sell your car?.. That was me
I had seen your car at MtBHS one day when I went to check out my new school, so I knew you were a hills guy. Thanks for the comps on the cars.

Wishihadars1800, sounds like you have a great plan there. I restored my first escort when I was at school too Thankyoufor your comps too.

Look out for the green mk II and the GT-P guys[88]
2008/06/22 21:56:58
Scott
I don't remember that at KFC, with the numerous offers I've had it can be hard to remember them all. I used to go MBHS, that was back in 2006.
The only my RS is missing is the front seats and door trims.

I to rebuilt my Escort while at school[:p]
2008/06/22 23:15:46
774scottc
Stay tuned guys...The new YB motor build has started... New Argo H-Beam rods and Wossner forged pistons have been ordered... Pics soon....

This also means that the motor that comes out of the race car is one step closer to going in the old flat front MKII...

As already said nice cars mate.I have to ask the little spoiler on the back of your race car does it make a noticeable amount of difference or is it the for looks.
2008/03/07 17:42:44
774scottc
Hi Santa,

Thanks for the comps on the cars..

The boot spoiler makes some differnce at higher speeds(200-220kph)at spots like the kink at Mallala... at lower speeds it does nothing... If you look at the picture of the MK I Cortina posted by blackrs2k you will see it has one of the same size.. this is the largest wing that we can run under the rules for Improved Production... some cars dont run the wing... but there isn't too many Improved Production cars that can do 1 minute 16's around Mallala...

2008/07/07 21:23:03
Luke
I do like your race car alot it is similar spec to the car Im building. Can you run a 4 link in IP? The superlights your runnng what offset are they and what tyres are you running.
Cheers
2008/09/07 13:12:00
774scottc
Hi Santa,

Another cool MK I on the way, any pics[:p]

As for IP rules, 4 links are a no go. The car must use what it cam with... You can add things (eg a 2 link) but you cant remove the original system... No turrets, no 4 link with coil overs...

The rims I use are 15"x8"'s with 205x50x15 o48 Yokohama's. I can also run a 225x50x15. But apart from the masive price jump between the two sizes the later didn't look right on the rims... Some guys run them... Some guys run 195's

Standard Escort offest... if you measure from the back of the rim to the mounting flange it measures 110mm....

Are you going to run a YB in yours??

Regards

Scott
2008/10/07 14:37:29
Luke
Yeah Yb for me The only pics I have are of each quarter as Im stuffing around doing the arches.May have some more on the weekend if the motors in. What revs are you pulling at 100kmh with the 4.1 in? I was going to put a full 6 link in it but I have hopes of it ending up on the track so may hold off. Do you have to run it restricted aswell or is that personal choice.
2008/10/07 15:31:02
774scottc
I'm going have a guess that in fith gear the car would do a 100kph with the motor doing 2500rpm...

I have a excel spred sheet that I developed to calculate speeds in gears... I did a quick cut and paste below but the formula etc is not included... but it goes something like this.. Anything in red is an entry... anything in black was a claculated number... Normally there is a graph too, but it didn't display when I did my cut and paste...

Gear Information
Differential Ratio:4.1
Tyre Brand / Type / Size: Yokohama 048R 205/50/15
Tyre Diameter (in mm): 584
Tyre Circumference (in mm): 1835
Red Line RPM: 7000

Gearbox Type: T5 (EB XR8)

Gears Diff Ratio Overall
1st 3.35 x 4.1 = 13.735
2nd 1.99 x 4.1 = 8.159
3rd 1.33 x 4.1 = 5.453
4th 1.00 x 4.1 = 4.1
5th 0.73 x 4.1 = 2.993

RPM
1000 2000 3000 4000 5000 6000 7000
Gears
1st 8 16 24 32 40 48 56
2nd 13 27 40 54 67 81 94
3rd 20 40 61 81 101 121 141
4th 27 54 81 107 134 161 188
5th 37 74 110 147 184 221 258

I normally change gears around 5800... I've now got the limiter set at 6800... The restrictor is a pain in the butt... but it does keep it even between our tiny car with 350hp and the big 600hp V8's which is good... It's a rule that we must run a 36mm restrictor in inlet tract of the turbo no futher than 50mm away from the compressor wheel... I drive by watching the boost gauge... With the restrictor the boost will drop off as the rpm increases... if it drops to 15psi I bang it into the next cog... It will go straight back up to 24psi and when it drops to 15psi....etc etc till no moe gears

2008/10/07 22:41:01
774scottc
I just noticed the formatting is a bit up the crapper...

But 6000rpm in fith is around 221kph..

Hope you can work it out guys...

[:I]

Juiceman
Very nice. What are the plans for the Windsor in the Capri?
2008/11/10 17:17:53
774scottc
You have mail Phil

Hi Juiceman, I need to up loadsome new pictures... The Capri is taking shape nicely now... It is being painted in Mercury Silver... It will look like a 69 GTV6 from the out side with orange stripes... I just getting the seats re trimed in the original style the only quirky thing is no wood grain in the dash fascia or the console... instead it has a stainless steel look... Just a nice street thing, nothing wild, just looks good, goes well... I intend to sit the car on 15" 8 spoke superlites...

Can't wait...

Cheers

Scott

Sweeeeeeet .....Wish i had seen this sooner.
Really nice work there mate. Good to see some quality parts too.
What brand are your rods?
EDIT: just read back throught the thread and saw they are argo.... nice.

Is that a Borgy 75series i see under the rear [?]

Any chance of some pics of the way you have set it up?

Hmmmmmmm would you happen to know what class i would beable to race in at malalla? .......Is there a class for me?

Im running a turbo 4age and 6 link rear.
2008/12/31 17:58:38
774scottc
Hi, 550hp mk2 cortina... so sorry I haven't got back to you before now. With the Toyota motor in your car you only have two options. You could run as a sports sedan or you could do some regularity stuff. But I think you would find yourself between the devil and the deep blue sea. You car would be too quick for regularity if driven flat out as they don't like regularity cars going any quicker than 1:20's around Mallala. On the flip side of that, your car would not be quick enough in a group of full on sports sedans, as they are quicker than V8 supercars around Mallala. Bit of abugger really...

Anyway, had a few days of work. Got some more done on my crappy... So here are the latest pics guys.

I love the V6 bonnet on Capri's, and I hate it when people cut a hole in the V6 bonnet to have an air cleaner hanging out. Thank you for not ruining your bonnet

On another note, it's starting to look really nice now, it will look beautiful in Mercury Silver. I wish I had a shed like yours!

That silver delivers! Is it a custom colour?
2010/05/04 21:58:42
774scottc
Sure does hey... It's a factory ford colour known as Mercury Silver.. Same as my GTP... Thought it looked tough on that so I took a gamble and I think it's paid off...

Thanks "itgrips" & "caprispecial"

I wanted to keep the lines on the car clean and original...

Just got one small dilemma...

I've got the GT badges... and I've got Orange stripes....

Do I put the GT stripes on it or not...?

Or do I just put the badges on it?...

Hmmmmm
2010/09/04 22:40:24
ronsmallford
Yes the stripes must go on. It made a big difference to whooligans capri. (which is silver also). Too it gives it that aussie look.
2010/11/04 17:42:20
Paul Dunstan
I vote for the stripes!
2010/11/04 17:53:27

Ok Guys...

The race car motor is currently at dyno, so I will have some figures and details for you soon. But for now please enjoy some pictures..

The Capri, the RS, the Cortina have all come to a bit of a stand still for the last few months due to work...

But I'm now on long service leave, I'm heading overseas and when I get back the Capri is my main priority, so please stay tuned :)

what size wheels/tyres are on the MKII. Putting arches on mine and if I could get the stance to look like that I would be a very happy chappy. Those fronts are sitting just inside the arches how was that achieved?

Enough questions. All ya cars look awesome! Very VERY envious!
2011/06/04 15:46:06
ratta tat tat
Wow, those are impressive HP figures. Would that be ATW?
2011/06/04 22:05:47
774scottc
The figures are good but not that good.. lol... They are taken at the flywheel Ratta tat tat, still healthy though. I get all of my motors tuned and run in on engine bed dynos. So I always talk flywheel power.. [:I]

JordyCharlieBoz, I used the same size wheels and tyres on both my racecar and the MkII. 15x8 Superlites with a 110mm back space with 225/50R15 048 Yokohama's I use the GTR Superlites on the racecar and just the normally Superlites on the MkII. The racecar runs spacers of varing sizes depending on what I want from the cars handeling. The MkII does not currently run spacers and thats why they sit in just a little, When it gets the Cossie in it I'm thinking of puting 15x10's on the rear....

More pics soon Mud
