UK Newbie - Mk2 Mex & 3dr Cos

Firstly Hello! I couldn't find a newbie section so I thought I would break the ice with a couple of pics of my cars. I was directed to this site months and months ago by my friend Mark (2quick4u) but have only just got round to posting as I spend most of my time on www.turbosport.co.uk. Anyway here goes:

Then there is my 3dr:

Not sure if its "classic" enough for you guys? Its only done 18000 miles and is currently running 380bhp so not mental but enough for the time being without having to spend serious money on it.

Previous Ford cars include Escort S1 RS Turbo, MK3 RS1600i, MK1 RS2000 and a 2wd Sapphire to name a few.

Let me know what you think guys!

(edited as the pics wernt showing [:o)] )

Very nice cars Kieron, thanks for sharing.

Love the set of wheels in the first 2 shots of the 3dr, best looking ones I've seen.

Seen your cars on TS and yes they both look great!

Love the 13's wheels with low profiles, a look that you dont see enough of in Oz. Any pics of the transplant?

Thanks for the replies guys

I love the 3dr. Its my favourite although I rarely drive it as I want to preserve the condition/mileage. In my defence though I have always had another car/RS while owning it so I still get my kicks. I used to own a 2wd Saph that I ran everyday so the 3dr is just a summer day, show car.

Wheels in the first two shots are what's currently sitting on it now. I sold the other set as I was bored of them. They are TSW Hockenheims. An old rim that are no-longer made and quite hard to come by as they have a reputation of being weak. Ideally i want some Compomotive CXN's but they are £1700 for the wheels alone!!! [:u]

No pics of the transplant yet as its not begun. I have the car, engine, gearbox & loom but thats the easy bit. Getting it all to fit and with an axle that can take the abuse is where the fun starts.

Mark, I would love to find you one and help get it shipped over. Going in yours was one of the things that made me want one. I had always wanted one anyhow but after the drive out in yours I was hooked.

I will have to find out the tyre sizes boys as I'm afraid I cant remember off the top of my head. They do get comments from the old boring concoarse sods over here though that think the car doesn't sit right on them [x2x] No accounting for taste hey!

Hi Kieron anyone with ron in thier name must be good. Nice cars you have. I too am a member of turbosport. I go by "ozcapri" and the members list thinks the o is a zero so I always get pole position when I sign on bumping 2quick4u down to second. I am always amazed at the rust repairs going on you guys are the rust repair capital of the world. Regards,...Ron.

Happy days. Like I said on the other thread I cannot remember even going in it then but it sure does look like me. Must of been one of the early ones when I had my rs2. I have a couple of pics of the track days kicking about too, although they are mostly of me [:x)]:

You posted them BBQ pic on TS a couple of week back I think. Great laugh . I had just got off my crutches in them from my accident and wasn't supposed to be driving or owt. Thats why I look like a beanpole.

You dont have any other pics of VAA floating about do you? I have bugger all as they all got lost. I dont have a single pic of the old pimp mobile either.

Welcome Kieron. Thanks for sharing. i do like your taste in automobile.

The MK2 Mexico sit's nice but the Cossie is everyone's dream car here.
All the Escorts look spotless, How much extra track in a x-pac compared to a normal MK2 Esky??
MMMmmm X-Pac;p.......(droool)
It shows how much we lucked out with the 1.5 FWD KA Laser. if you were lucky you got twin carb's from the factory down here.

Please tease us settlers some more. With Cars, not green teeth[:x)]

The X-pack is Marks (2quick4u) so I'm sure there are lots of pics of it somewhere on this site.

thanks for the nice comments. I'm not sure what you actually want more pics of so I have attached a few more of the Mex and 3dr. These were taken in the warehouse here where I work for the 3dr to go in Fast Ford magazine as a feature. The 3dr has also seen the cover of PPC mag and there is a pic below.

Oh superb, thanks mate! I will try to get on msn but things are looking to get a bit hectic very very soon. If not you could bung them over to my TS addy.

I think I done a couple of track days in VAA and then after that in the 16i. I did attend a couple where I wasn't driving though as I probably had my BM or something and didn't want to track the 3dr.

You mean my sig on TS? That was done by Gary (retromotorsports) as a laugh in the staffroom when we were looking for new banner pics. He liked the first pic above and chopped it to banner size:

Someone commented on how shiney it was so he edited it to this as a joke:

I thought it was funny so chopped it again for my sig. I was due for a change anyhow.

Hi Kieron, Very very nice cars you have there !

I remember speaking with you via emails from turbosport a year or 2 ago about something with regards to cosworth engines.

Cheers,

Damion.

Kieron what's the rim size 13x6 or 13x7 and wot tire size as its the same look i want on my estate

cheers matt
2008/01/07 13:45:45
Kieron
Hello mate, the rims are 13x7 and the tyres are

Most people in the UK seem to be buying them from Midlands Wheels. The link to their site is:

http://www.midlandwheels.com/main/content/view/4/5/

I'm sure they would arrange shipping. If not its the business I'm in so if enough people are interested I could look into getting a few sets over there.

I think my tyres are 175/50/13 but I need to check that to be 100% sure.

Thanks kieron contacted them 2day and ask how much freight is.

The wheels on it at the moment r the same as on ur 3dr the tsw there gud wheels just to big they rub everywhere and i caren't lower it on them. should be puttin up some photos of it very soon

hi kieron wot offset r ur rims please

cheers
2008/03/07 17:56:33
Kieron
To be honest they were on the car when I bought it. I will whip a wheel off at the weekend and see for you. Although Midlands wheels will know what it is if you tell them what car its for as I "think" they only do one offset for our cars. Them rims are very popular over here.
2008/03/07 18:36:12

ok man thanks midland wheels got back to me and its gona cost the same amount to buy the rims and freight ova here as i can buy them ova here so might just get them here
2008/03/07 18:47:14
Kieron
You can actually buy 7x13 Superlite rims over there?? Do you mind if I ask how much for??

Or do you mean minilites or similar?
2008/03/07 19:11:22

well i think there made in ozzy calld http://www.performancewheels.co.nz/performance.html they do other wheels to they only sell to companys i got quoted $1100nzd for just the rims
2008/03/07 19:22:05
Kieron
The superlites look the same to me. Once you know the offset you will be good to go.

Hello mate, nice to hear from you! I hope things are going well?? Did you move on from the shop in the end?

No drunken calls I'm still paying for the last one. [88] Long ole day to collect the 3dr but well worth it. You still keeping my 500 in good nick?? I will have a Moonstone 500 one day.

I remember talking to you once about some stamps you had. Would love to pick your brains about them and how to use them.

Hi Kieron,
Yes we sold that shop at the end of February after building it up and have bought one twice as big down here in Tasmania. Also a Cafe and some land just need some more money to build on it.
Hence my white 3dr has to go.
Sorry mate I sold the 500 to Ty (on here) to help fund a property on the Gold coast.
I will e-mail you my new address in the next couple of days.

Did buy a EVO 9 last year though Great fun 205KW @ the wheels I hope to take it out on the local race track next month work permitting.

Regards
Mark

Glad things are going well for you but sorry you had to sell the 500 and the white one is now up for grabs too. Shame but needs must and all. I'm sure the money you invest from the sale of them will soon be returned anyhow.

Yeah drop me a mail mate Either on the same address as before or my TS one: kieron@turbosport.co.uk. Lots happened since you've left so it would good to catch up.

One of the guys from the group broke his 500+ bhp saph and bought an Imprezza with the proceeds. He loves it but I dont understand it myself. An Evo would be nice though, I much prefer them.
