apprently the 4 private investors have the money and land to build the park now, all this is just to get state funding......tight arses[:(!]

I haven't lived in Adelaide for a few years, but what happened to AIR out on Port Wakefield road? Not used anymore?

Cheers

Here are the facts (I used to work for ANDRA)

AIR has been out of action for some time....specs of track not up to standard. Fued between Bob Jane and ANDRA over track condition and saftey aspects.

Court case was regards ownership....it's another story, needless to say Bob Jane has heaps of cash....threw some of it at the court case and won.....so the track stays stuffed.

This new venture is coming from the Pt Adelaide Lord Mayor, and has the support of a lot of high profile Politicians - Nick 'No Pokies' Zenephon is one! Now the Premiers Office is starting to take notice, as Nick is starting to make some noise about this new venture.

The venture is backed by a 'mysterious' (sounds suss to me) consortium who have a fair chunk of the cost of the track ready to go. The reason why the state government is being hounded is land allocation.

No site has yet been established, and with new housing projects popping up like morn horns, the reality is that you do not want a track located next to a suburb....noise restrictions will kill it.

ONLY the state government can allocate suitable land, and then prevent a housing project going in next door. This is the reason why they are being persued....and it's looking like being a fairly safe bet to say that in a few years....maybe, just maybe something might get off the ground.

Hope this helps.

I wish you South Aussies the best of luck getting a motorsports venue. IMO Australians have a very long history of motorsports appreciation and prowess. Heck, you've only got to see our countries list of achievements on the international scene, and the amount of 200+Kw family sedans we sell to know its true lol.

Sounds like you have something good in the pipeline.

I wish you all the best in getting your motorsport park
approx 8 yrs ago in newcastle a developer approached port stephens council with the plans for a motorsport complex. at first the council was all for the idea and then something changed !
the develpoment has now been in court for 8 very long years and approx $ 1 million has been spent on legal fees and studies.
the council (or their solicitors) have come up with so much crap against this development you would not believe. even calling a dried up creek bed an endangered ecological community
the battle still goes on to this day !!
I hope council of Adelaide back this development but after 8 frustrating years it is very hard to believe anything the politicians say.
keep fighting them and dont let the unpleasant individuals get you down !!!
at least when it is built you will be able to use it and enjoy yourself and the whingers will have to find something else to complain about
