I actually want to have a pre airflow front. I think mine came out with the bar type grill and someone has cut the bars out and changed the blinker holes so the airflow grill fits

OK,...
I want to keep my pre airflow setup.
But I have some cast alloy blinker mouldings to go with air flow grill.

If your after pre airflow grill, I know of a dude with some.
Let me know if your keen, and I'll ask the guy.

I've been meaning to get a spare off of him for ages, but have been too slack

It looks like your on the right track, the slots in the floor are in the right place, although you will need to run them further up the diff hump, basically to the original cardboard firwall line[;^)] This will allow the rear end to go nice and low[:p] You also need to make sure you can achieve antisquat geometry with the bars, that will dictate your floor box mounting heights Without antisquat, you might as well just add tramp bars

Looks like you have put some long hours into her. That rear end looks tidy good workmanship..
It does appear that this vehicle will be a little weapon when complete I spose you might want it be if it is replacing the GTR..

Yes I hope so, The GTR will always have a special place in my heart though[:I].
Still not to sure about the watts link setup, It will do the job I suppose. Very happy with the workmanship.

g'day mate,

what's the latest update on the corty. Have you managed to sort out the rear yet? I think it has given some inspiration to some other guys i know that own mk1 cortinas. Both of your cars are awesome. The conversion is lookin real good.
Ive been catching up with some of the other guys in the Hunter British Ford Group and their cortinas. Lotus mk2, 2 and 4 door mk1 and 2 GTs, etc. I reckon theyd love both of yours. I think there a good resource if your after any info, parts etc.
A few of us were in the Hill climb two weeks ago and it has given me and another guy an itch to scratch. The SR might be racing up a few hills in the up and coming season.
Will have to catch up again sometime for a run when your sorted out[88]

That paint work and the wheels just set it off.. BEAST! How reliable will it be with sr20 in it. I am sick of tightening stuff on my old pinto. I think you have made a good choice on SR powerplant

A good inch at the front will be needed[;^)]

How do you go with the exhaust at the rear if you lift the car on a 2 post hoist? Does the diff rest on the exhaust?

WOW!! That's all I can say..

On engineering.. will it pass with pod filter? You have a FMIC too which prohibits a pod being used according to EPA and VicRoads here in VIC.

g'day Mate,

They welcome these mods with open arms mate. Thats why other members are keen on all types of transplants. We still have our awesome originals of course with some on club rego. Eg geniune mk1 rs2000, mexico, rs3100 v6, mk1/2 gt cortinas, mk1/2 Escorts, lotus cortinas and Escorts, v6gt capri's, Sierra cosworth, anglias, prefects, thames van, zephyrs and zodiacs etc. Its an awesome mix, Its all about having fun and getting the families involved. The kids love it.
We also enjoy getting other cars that the members have out eg. valiants, hillmans, nissan z cars, all types. Whenever you are back on the road youll have to come on a run one day with the family.

But more importantly check out the hillclimbing and some track racing[(#)]

What is it about the wheel your not sure of? The original GT wheel has a leather type rim that is black with a similar type alloy spoked centre and you can use the same centre cap as you have, that might suit better? This is a pic of one in my other corty.

Really have no time for her atm and dont see any time for next year maybe two. Hi Darren,

Still the same advice from my end Just leave it in the shed unless your heart isnt in it anymore. If its still your passion, it will still be there in a few years when time/finances allow for more playing. I had 2 break periods with my corty both of about 2-3 years each time...quite often you will have some better ideas or solutions to different area's of the car over the time your not working on it. If your over it and never want to have several hundred horsepower sitting in the garage ready for a joy ride then moving it on wont be hard. My guess is that it will be staying

Cheers,

Phil.

I agree with Phil, my Group A has been in the shed for over a year and not been touched in the last 8 months at least due to health issue's Etc Etc, and even though i'm totally fed up with it a the moment it's not going anywhere even if it takes another 5 years to finish off.
Just dust it off when your ready, as we loose to much in selling such projects, not just money but i feel i loose a small part of myself if i let a project go before i can complete it
