ahh i know yeah these pics are taken.....
david u live next to one of the best roundabouts down south... goin up the hill through it is awsome.. the way that it drops flat in the middle id great, if planned right u can get the car to step out to the left then flatten out go striaght and hold a great line up and down the strand... no wonder u hear me when i drive past

by the way the car looks great as usual.....

cant wait to see it lowered

David,
Nice car buddy
Good choice on reverting back to stock rims and hubbies. Whitewalls set off the older style well. Keep up the good work.

Rhys

cant quite drop it on its belly yet, 225s dont clear the guards that well, im gonna try 215s soon and see how low it can go, good to hear phil the steel rims suit small fords if the car is original just gettin your tyres walled makes it look even better

just a little update as i cant afford tuning and dynoing the twin carbie setup ive decided to sell them, ive decided to try the 350 holley for the mean time, haven't got carby yet but once i get it all on and tuned ill keep you guys posted because i dont think to many people have done it on this forum(well not as many as sidedrafts) for 200 bucks fitted and tuned you cant go wrong

Haha speed hump friendly? Thats gunna be near un-drivable, even at height it was with superlows in front, I remember the exhaust would scrape now and then on speed humps. Your in for some fun. Will you try getting front lower also?

Does look great though.

The height x-member is a pain in the butt.

Rhys
2007/09/04 08:40:46
Inferno115
fronts staying same height, i was just having a bit of a play around with the back seeing which height is practicle and looks good, clearly thats gonna scrape on tree leaves so might go just a bit higher, also i think the local police station wont feel same way when i say " but it looks good"
2007/09/04 12:49:10
lucas
not low enough. go more. i wanna see it scraping
2007/09/04 15:09:50
Inferno115
got my car back this morning, with the 350 holley finally perched on its manifold, i thought it would drown a standard motor, but this thing pulls like never before (mind you the 32/36 was outta wack) its cost me $500 all up for tuning and the carby itself, i highly recommend auto carburettor services to anyone wanting something done carby wise they do some real great work, now to focus on the head work
2007/04/28 15:37:56

installed crane fireball xr700 electronic ignition today, what a pain in the ass that was, but hopefully the end result is gonna be worth it, least now no more points
2007/04/05 18:38:41
Inferno115
not much i can say about the electronic ignition to be honest, i mean mines pretty much a stocker so didn't notice a major difference rather than having no points, id say for the price its worth the conversion although if you are using the crane kit make sure you really understand the instructions , took me a while to work it all out before i actualy started, when puttin the shutter on the dizzy it will be really tight, but if you go slow enough and use a socket to push it down like they recommend it should be all sweet, hope that helps
2007/06/05 21:17:45
Inferno115
thanks for the comments, its not as nice as i want it, but plenty of time for improvement, first reason i went with the tint was to cut down the heat gettin in the car because on a summers day you wood burn on the vinyll seats but if i was to do it on another car id do black rather then mirror finish, but everyone to there own, also for the holley i just bought a adaptor plate was alot easier to find and most likely cheaper, i know of another forum member using a offenhauser manifold the cars in the for sale section, hope that helps
2007/07/05 18:02:22
Inferno115
would be a hell of a lot better with a cam and maybe a worked head, but comparing to my out of wack 32/36 its a vast improvement, i bought the hole setup and got it fitted tuned for well under the price i sold my twin sidedrafts for, good to hear about the mags glad uve found a set you like, im to picky this is my 3rd set so far

alot of things have happend of the last few weeks and alot of decisions have been made, instead of updating for something newer ive decided to go all out on the tina, after going to the dyno day and gettin a lame 62 hp atw ive decided to put a bit of a worked pinto in it , and depending on the cash flow ill also get it fully resprayed in the same colour through a mate of mine

also ill put up pics up of the rust repairs that got done a few weeks back..

Mickas
What jet and power valve are you using in your holley....
2007/08/22 22:39:25
Inferno115
from memory it was slightly under david vizard specs,

56 main jet
0.017 power valve orifice
4 " power valve
so smaller then those ,hopefully the jetting will be alright for the new engine

its a bit boggy down low, but up high its great, cant expect to run that lean with a v8 carby anyway
2007/08/22 23:01:48
Inferno115
well after ALOT of bad luck, my new engine is in, and cranking over (long storey with immobiliser and starter motor) was startin to lose faith in the old girl but hopefully itll be running within the next two weekends, depends how much motivation i have, then i might go for a dyno run and see if theres much of a improvement over 62 hp
2007/11/09 21:31:52
lucas
i would hope so seein wat i pulled with that motor. a proper tune and clean and it should be goin great.

well after a few late nights working in the dark it finally RUNS , after alot of bad luck ...snapping a timing belt turning it over by hand(yeah dont ask haha) theres a deadly rattle coming from rear of engine so ill drop into work and borrow compression tester and pray i haven't bent a valve, idles over great for a huge cam doesnt stall even at 800 rpm, well its a bit to loud to go revving it at this time of night so ill have a bit more of a play on the weekend and keep you all updated

all cylinders registered 200 psi, highly doubt ive damaged anything in the head then so im thinking adjust tappets, are they even adjustable on pintos[x2x], ive nevers really worked on one besides the usual maintanece

the thing also wont rev past 3500 but i think thats carby related as its spurting fuel left right and centre, had a few big backfires through carb which on 350 holley's makes the power valve cactus, least the thing is running now and i can sort out the little things

still in shock that i can turn the key and the thing will just idle when its stone cold
2007/09/20 22:34:06
2lt_Scort
Tappet clearances will be on that cam info sheet you've got. Easily adjusted.

Porbably needs timing adjusted on it if it backfiring through the carb, then it should rev up better.
I wouldn't mess with the carb yet, you spent a fair bit getting it right so considering it was fine before hand I'd fix timing before changing jets or anything.

Rhys
2007/09/21 08:26:59

hey david. good to here buddy. you should really get the carby all sweet and then try and run it. that motor loves fuel and air due to the big cam. and dont worry when you have the car runnin right when its cold it wont idle for a few minutes.

give me a call if ya need any help.
2007/09/21 12:43:19

with the rattle coming from the rear of the engine and it not revving over 3500 im thinking maybe the timing belt has skipped a tooth and maybe timing has been retarded [x2x], just a thought, any suggestions more then welcome

have you got the timing light out david and made sure everything is good to go.

timing belt was a tooth out so set it all back up on TDC and she runs sweet no damage done to engine thank god, carbys running rich no matter what we do so im thinkin of going back to a 32/36 and jettin it out to suit, holley are to much of a pig to get right now i just gotta fix the long list of little things
speedo cable
inlet manifold gasket
blank of pvc valve...and what ever else decides to show its ugly head

well got the car back this morning, and i cant explain how much better it feels, great throttle response down low and all the way through the rev range and a whole lot quicker, would never go back to the 350 holley now and what a great noise those twin 40's make, hopefully will get a dyno run soon to see the diffence in power compared to the old 60 hp stocker i had [:p]

heres a pic i took with my phone of the new engine

well finally got my car on the dyno after the new engine and twin 40s all in and set up, car run fine air fuel ratios were great all exactly spot on so was happy with that, bit dissapointed with the power it made only 64.8 kw/86.91 hp atw,but i had a massive dent in my exhaust which probably bring the diameter down to about 1 - 1.25 inch so fixing that shood see a decent gain yet again

heres the dyno printout

my brother reduced his exhaust from 2 1/4 to 2" he lost heaps of power i couldnt beleave how much he lost.. But he also took off his custom extractors to that may have affected it to..

you have got the goodies in that motor.. top stuff

gotta be 18 for p's....

and 21 for full lisense.

i can drive now, but i am stuck on my Ls for another year and 4 months or so.

it sucks, would be easier for me 2 get to work and to go out on weekends if i have my liscence already...

actually sterlo u have to be 22 these days to get off ur P's. The government have found anoother way to screw us over. GREEN P's woo hooo, going for my P's in about 15 days so a made scramble begins to get the scort up to scratch.

are u serious? WTF IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!!

dont worry mate it only gets worse, further power restrictions, now we cant drive moidified 'performance' 6's. and to top it all off pasenger restrictions. only one other person between the ages of 16-21 are allowed in the car. so u can have 4 15 yr olds or 4 22yr olds but only one person remotly your age. isn't this life we live great. soon we wont even be allowed to drive 4 cylinders.

Oh and i forgot, no modifications to ur car at all, apprenlty not sure on how they will police it but sounds like fun to me. im in the sh!t then.

Cheers
Mish

man, for me, at the moment my motor looks stock, and it might still be when i get my ps, u cant see a crane camshaft from the outside. and if the cop says anything about the extractors, its a just reason to say that ur manifold cracked, and it was cheaper to get extractors made up. as long as the car isnt really loud.

but your right, it is getting really out of hand. i wouldn't be suprised if they started dyno tuneing every car that was up for rego and in a p platers name.
