Very slow moving on the MK1 over the last few weeks, there has been more thinking and planning on what direction will engine, wheels etc, as with the wheels they'll hopefully be arriving within the fortnight. I did order seals for the boot, door inner felts and screen chrome locks. The boot seal made the boot lid not shut so I needed to adjust the striker until I sort out where it's binding, I'll simply grind the seam down till the lid closes nice. Also I have all parts to assemble the doors up which will be great ! RSA sent me a free bag of lollies with the order, very nice π

My mate got a front screen seal with the lock strip molded in for his fake RS, it fitted as factory and still looks good years later . I don't know about the door blades tho.. Maybe just do a bunch buy from mst or RalDes. I'm still buying the MK1 door blades from UK as they are the most original around..

Ok good show, I need inner door trim and outer molds, mine are falling to bits and want something at least halfway good quality.

Getting back to the seals on my MK1 today , the Tamo door seals seem ok. Before installing glass I need to install the windows winder mechanism and that was not easy as I only had 4 bolts, needing 8 so instead of hunting thru tubs and tubs of bolts I went the metric way and drilled the threads out with a 5mm bit and then threaded with an M6 tap. First was to drill These are the new and old screws Quick thread method And now I have metric threads which is so much easier to find bolts and screws. Installed bailey channel from rare spares, which I thought was wrong but to my suprise they included the thinner bailey for the front rail, nice going and works great. With the glass in and the quarter window the door almost looks complete now , glass moves up and down nice , next is wait for the clips and install the inner felt strip. Think I'll buy the aus style outer blade seals from RSA, home are the cheap days buying from UK. Bonus story, I was looking for those pesky screws and found 2x front screen seals that are still soft and not weathered so a quick clean up with CRC the better one will be used and the other will be saved for the van that's next in line.. Oh if anyone wants this door glass seal clips, I found a seller on Amazon selling a bunch of 1x for under $10 so I bought 3x sets, they are too suit Cortina mk1-5 and escort 1 and 2 models.

From what I know it's the front screen for MK2 which is a 1pc was designed and made with better minerals here in Adel, it's also cheaper if that matters. I'm going to make another order this week for the rear quarter seals and outer blades. Then I'll have all the seals needed except the rear screen seal, I'm holding off as I think I've got a decent one stashed somewhere..

Looking good Marty, getting the glass in alway feels like a great milestone and it really starts to bring a build together. Be interested to see what you think of the outer blades when they arrive!

Ordered the outer blades or belts as they are also known this rvo and also the rear quarter window seals from RSA. I think the quality and fitment is as good as the UK stuff without the massive shipping charges. Anyways the blade/belt clips arrived from Amazon. The car needs 8 per door but sell in 10 bags , made in China as usual... The RSA inner seal fitted fine, it's a little less curved at the back but fine These are the clips For under $10 or $1ea it's all worth getting them

The outer belt blades and rear quarter window seals are on the way, won't be here for Easter but ain't rushing things here. I did order new front calipers from USA, these are not 2 piston, not 4 piston but 1 piston floating calipers designed for a MK2 Focus Duratec, ok I've gone mad, but think how good modern calipers work and the weight/inertia they need to haul up kinda makes M16s obsolete in comparison. These calipers are designed for 280-320mm rotor so that's right in the range. I'll receive them in 2 to 3wks , calipers cost $60ea and $30 post from the usa
